John Ross not delivering paid for JR500

Failing business. Get the AG on this ASAP.

If his website or FB is still up he's probably still taking people's money with no intention of ever delivering a product.

Failing businesses do that and declare bankruptcy. Say hasta la vista to your money baby.

It's not really a business, per se. I believe he thought many years ago that he would be able to sell these special revolvers quickly after having S&W build them for him and from what I have heard he still has quite the inventory just collecting dust. You would think he would be eager to kick these out the door at $1,500 a pop.
 
If it was local I would contact my police dep and ask if I could go with them to try and resolve this. I would tell them I don't want anyone arrested as long as I get what I paid for.
 
Well I've kept my mouth shut for this whole unraveling and have read his thread and the CB one. You sir are doing much better than I would have. I don't believe JR's story/excuses. I don't think it acceptable at all. After seeing this I would NEVER want a firearm that is tied with his name not matter how nice it is. Especially if I was in your shoes a,treated like a second rate customer who doesn't matter. 1500 bucks is ALOT of money for some folks. Every time I look at it I would get aggravated over the whole situation. Not worth it to me. I would get my money back and tell him to shove it.

But you have your own feelings and it seems like you really want the gun. With that said ,best of luck. I hope you get the gun soon, receive an apology from JR, and I hope you enjoy the hell out of that firearm!

Believe me I would take either, whichever is faster. But same problem getting refund as gun currently. At this point an apology wouldn't hold much water.

You might not get either and you need to realize that. I waited 2 months for the dealer to refund my money and finally kissed it goodbye. I waited patiently for a month before I decided to put the hammer down on the guy. After that we had a few heated conversations on the phone. I finally told him he could keep my money but I wasn't just going to roll over if he did. For some reason I think he had been down that road before.

He can't keep something that is not his.

It's gonna be awesome, we are gonna get your money back and the gun. It's gonna be so big, so beautiful, and we are gonna make John Ross pay for it.
 
This activity is common among custom knife makers and a few gun "makers" I was in a group on another forum who got suckered into losing about the same as you did for a deposit on a run of controlled extraction integral Pict railed forged actions and bolts to be delivered in Macmillan stocks with Criterion's barrels in Caliber of your Choice for $3000 . Guy gave updates and showed pictures of progress to the hundred or so of us suckers for about 9 months before we started hearing from the suppliers that they received no $ to start work, guy made every excuse in the book until more than A year passed and he disappeared.

I don't think it is that common, but something that needs to be aware of. I think the problem here is the fact that Mr. Ross is so widely known. Besides his gun rights advocacy and his infamous S&W 500, he's a published author and was a candidate for U.S. Congress in 1998. He was(and I say was) well respected in the gun owning community. This widespread respect would lead most folks into believing he would hold up his end of a custom revolver deal. Besides the fact he has not delivered the OPs firearm after such a delay is the one and only negative response he has heard from the dude. One would think that sitting on that stock of high priced steel for over a decade would mean a big sigh of relief every time an order came in. One would think that any profit to be made off those firearms is long gone or at least dwindling as every day/month/year passes. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.
 
Jr sent one of the others in this situation the gun to his ffl very, very, very recently. Guess why send 3 at the same time when one would be easier or not.
I asked my ffl again as I have not received any communication/responses from JR and of course nada. I really hate to bug my ffl as he only gets $10 for the transfer.
I guess its personal.

I actually just called Mr. Ross on the phone. He answered. (314) 308-8261 I informed him that even after reading all the gun writer stories and reviews, that I would not be buying any of his products based on the comments here and at cast boolits. OP may get satisfaction, maybe not. But I let Mr. Ross know personally that he would never get a dime from me.

Hope I didn't cross any lines with this post. If I did MODS, my apologies. I just hate to see the "untouchable gun gods" ripping off shooters. It diminishes all of us as a whole. Please delete if you feel it right.

Really appreciate everyone's support one way or another. But to all those wondering what is going on behind the story it is all pretty simple.
Still only trying to get what I paid for nothing more, gun gets sent/received and it ends. I would most likely be moderated if I posted everything, like trying to post the pic of the check even though all the numbers were blacked out. That is fine. But there is no unprofessional profanity and slandering happening from me even behind the scenes.

Guess it won't post a picture from my phone/computer. Cat in house plant/tree looking at camera and not giving a crap even though it knows it is wrong and the right thing to do is get out of the plant asap and relocate to another vector.
When you know what you are doing is wrong but do not care! Sums up this situation.

I would send a PM to the Mod on the CB forum who locked your thread. Tell him he gave the forum the impression everything was fine and taken care of but as of this message your FFL has not received your gun or any contact from Ross. Tell the Mod everyone on his forum thinks Ross did nothing wrong yet he still has your money and you have no gun. He is protecting Ross and you can't say otherwise because he is moderating you.

He won't post anything more from me. Apparently the mod is the owner and is a buddy of JR. CB has a lot of good people/members/info but trust me I can't get anywhere there now. S&W do any good??
Has to be very suspicious when the CB thread gets closed by the mod without any more responses from JR or the resolution to the thread subject. Purpose of a thread is to see it to closure or when activity stops alltogether. Maybe they were worried the long winded fellow would write so much their bill would go up exponentially!
I am in no way leaving this forum for the next best thing. Just exploring all options including thermo nuclear for resolving this. If/when resolution happens details will be posted here.

He just hung up when I mentioned this forum. I figured he would. But I got the message across that I would not buy from him because of what I had been reading here and other places. Even emailed him the link to this thread.

I doubt it will help the OP, but it's all I could think of.
