John Ross not delivering paid for JR500

Small claims courts are typically for under $500; these guns are more than that; this would seem to be grand larceny; possibly also mail fraud. I'd sic his police and DA on him

In Montana it is $7000 see the link in my original post. It does seem to be limited by jurisdiction though.

Every time I reopen this thread to read the new posts I hope to see a pic of the OP holding his new gun. Keeping my fingers crossed for you
Me too. I hate seeing people get burned. My 2 cents is to call the AG in his state and also the Feds. While I am not a lawyer, this sounds like grand larceny and interstate wire fraud to me. Good luck, OP, wish you the best.

Sometimes we gotta learn our lessons the hard way..

Myself, I'm on an 8m wait for a set of grips that were supposedly already done.

Note to self:
Do not engage in business dealings with one John Ross, resident of Missouri.

FTR, I have bought more than a few guns online, with little or no drama. And shipped them out, too. Plenty of folk with less name recognition than John Ross manage to take payment and ship out guns in reasonable amounts of time.

It may take some time for this to come to a conclusion. When others get involved things can take longer than expected to reach resolution or get more complicated. I will update as things change.
As others my last two firearm purchases both took less than a week from placing order to getting the pistols. Doesn't have to be that fast but it is not that hard to do. I have shipped things other than firearms to people and I always strive to get it out asap as it is not very difficult or time consuming to box/ship.

Have a great 4th! Hoped to be on the river but it looks like rainy holiday weekend is in store. Not unheard of in MT.

What if this whole thing was a con. What if Mtshooter 'is' john ross......?

But seriously I'd be wigging out over 1500 beans too and could probably be capable of doing loony things if I thought someone was robbing me of 2 weeks pay. I think the OP came off as pretty patient tbh...

In pure speculation, not to say JR is a scammer, just probably not a guy who prioritizes his customers and the flood story was likely for the benefit of the CB tribals.... maybe

Impossible as jr wont post details ever. Always vague when it comes to someone elses money.
Mb jr was abducted by aliens while fighting looters also.

But the real smoking gun is for someone to analyze his fb to his actions. Going back farther than this. I am not touching it now.

If and when you determine that he won't make good on your agreement, here is how I would suggest you proceed.
1. Read up on the St. Louis County Small Claims Court https://wp.stlcountycourts.com/small-claims/ (the limit is $5000)
2. Find a lawyer.
3. Sue for either the cash involved, or the gun and all fees and costs.

With all of your evidence, I see you getting either the gun or your money and Mr. Ross footing the bill. If you file in his jurisdiction, rather than in Montana, it will be much easier for the court to seize assets\funds to make this end, and not end up going on forever.

FWIW, I think you're been patient and certainly are not deserving of the outright abuse you're gotten on this, both over on CB and from Mr. Ross himself.

Good luck.

I’d include your travel costs in that cost as well if at all possible. Perhaps extra for time lost at work?

I know very little about civil suits though. No idea if that’s feasible.

It would quickly exceed $5000. If it went that way wouldnt do it to lose a cent.
Loss of Work+t&l, court costs& original amount lost.
Dont believe lawyers can be involved in small claims but have never done it but if they are then cost would increase a lot.

Lawyers most certainly ARE used in small claim s courts, and the St. Louis county small claims court web page describes circumstances where they MUST be used. There is no need to lose time from work or travel anywhere. You can select an attorney from a list supplied by the bar assn, he takes care of everything, and you cash a check or receive your revolver. This is the way that credit card debts are adjudicated and it is not prohibitively expensive, no one is flying around the country, and the system works. I know, because I have served plenty of the subpoenas. If you contact an attorney licenced to practice in St. Louis, I just about guarantee he'll quote you a price, add that to what you've lost on the deal, and sue the defendant for the whole bundle.

Charlie Horse is on it! It'd be great to find a gun friendly lawyer as well. Another venue would be contacting a local St. Louis TV station that features human interest/investigative reporting type news stories. We have one NBC local affiliate here in Reno that does segments called "On Your Side". They get answers when others can't.

Thanks for the information. Very helpful.
Obviously I don't anything about civil litigation/small claims.
I was doing everything in my power to resolve this in the most simple manner. Just receive gun or a refund as a last resort. At this point it is going to take more than just expecting someone to do the right thing on their own.

I would see if anyone else is in you position. The more people who are having troubles with Ross might help you bring him to court faster. I would also go to other gun forums talking about this as well.

I remember those from when I lived in the Reno/Carson area. Amazing how reporters like these can get the coverage and word out and "persuade" companies to do the right thing.

Ancient History; Years ago an outfit advertised M1-A1 stocks. First call was told stock is in inventory. Paid for stock. No stock. Called and was assured that stocks were on the way. An additional call with another excuse. Enough was Enough and a compliant was to be filed with the Post Office. Notified the company. The company sent a refund check. Time passed and New York State was doing an investigation. The state sought information through Shotgun News where the original ad appeared.

Point being use all the resources to file complaints. This thing sounds like a Ponzi scheme. That, or you have a real nutball on your hands. Wonder how many of these guns have been actually been delivered in the last few months? Wonder how many deposits your friend has taken in during that time?

Addendum: It's a good thing to start simple and work up. Don't call in the SAS and SEAL teams only as last resort.:)

I'm throwing seven different kinds of smoke!
Ponzi? So many things could really be going on there. Interesting to here all the thoughts on what is really causing this.
