Custom 3-1/2" EMF New Dakota .45 Colt. The ejector is set-up so you get very nearly a full-length throw despite the short barrel. Steel backstrap for the custom birdshead grip, irregularly heat-blued and lacquered. 1851 trigger-guard and front-strap fitted (it's slightly shorter than the stock unit on this gun.) Hammer spur lowered and shortened, then treated to aggressive checkering. Bronze front sight for high visibility.
The grips are whatever crappy wood Armi San Marco was using when the gun was manufactured- need to replace these with something nicer.
The lock broke, and I looked up the part. $34- bugger that! I grabbed a scrap of 5160 and fabbed and heat-treated a new one. The crud on the original is from where I superglued it to the scrap to trace the outline.
Needs a little refinish at the muzzle where the barrel was shortened; supplies are on the way. I'll be looking for some exotic hardwood or-knock on wood- suitable antler for the new grips.
The gun handles great. Need to hit the reloading bench and go shoot it...
