PPU came out with I believe was a new defense ammo last year or the year before. Their old JHP stuff was notorious for not expanding, so I'm wondering is this new ammo really new and actually expands or is it just the same old stuff just repackaged?
So I figured I'd take a look at some of the old .40 ammo and compare it to the new .40 ammo and yeah, they're not the same bullet. The cavity on the new bullet is A LOT bigger.
I haven't tried it. If I had to depend on budget .40 ammo Ive found the standard Fiocchi Shooting Dynamics165 gr JHP that you can get for $15-20 per box of 50 to work when shot into a wild pig carcass. The penetration is a little less than some hyper ammo but adequate and it expands.
