What is the general consensus on the XDS?
I have a pending trade for one at my lgs.
I shot two mags through it and liked it. It is smaller and much lighter than my other .45s

Not for me but a lot of people love them. I don't like or want the grip safety and don't like the roll pin for the extractor and the grip texture isn't ideal for me. I tried to like them but I don't hate them either. Just not my choice.

I have one on my hip right now. I really like mine and it conceals very easy. Follow up shots are a bit slower than with comparable sized 9mm, but that’s to be expected. It is not unmanageable by any means. I carry mine with the flush fit mag iwb and a 6 round mag in my pocket. I really like the grip safety for reholstering, as I can simply make sure my hand is off of it and I have an extra layer of safety in case something were to accidentally get inside the holster during reholstering. The trigger on mine is really good as well.

I’ve carried one since they first came out. I like it for real warm weather because I won’t be too sad if it gets sweaty. I’d rather have a bigger slug if I’m hiking a trail and need to carry concealed.

In general I really prefer the Sig pictured but it’s only a 9mm. Different cartridges for different needs, so I keep them both around.

It went back for the recall, and I had to send it in because the trigger dingus broke. Turn around was quick on the latter issue. Like two weeks total.

Yes, I shot this one with both strong and weak hand. Rang the steel every shot at 15yds(my standard).
I like the grip safety, and ambi mag releases....the lci...I liked it all really.
I guess there is a generation 1, and a gen 2....? I dont know which it is, or what the difference is, but I like it.

The one I posted has the grenade textured grip and is a gem 1. Gen 2 has the Grip Zone configuration, minus the silly “Grip Zone” label.

Yes there is now a mod 2. I can’t really speak to them as mine is the first version and I’ve never shot the mod 2. The reports I have read have been positive regarding them though.

I think the one at my lgs has the nasty pineapple grip. But I'm okay with it.
Is that the only difference.?
This is the good 'pistol pack' with all the accessories and 4 mags etc.

Don't own one but I shot my buddy's and I liked it a lot. That's coming from a glock guy too. The ergonomics were great and it shot noticeably softer than my glock 23. They seem to be good guns.

Edit: he has the xd. Have not shot the xds, my bad. Still the XD seemed well made and I don't imagine the xds is much different in that regard.

I have one each in .45 ad 9mm. The pinkie extension on the mags helped me a lot with accuracy. It’s my experience that these guns do not like to be +1, loading the gun dropping the mag to load one more round and reinserting. Every failure to feed I’ve had was caused by this. Mine seem to respond better to dropping the slide to load rather than slingshotting the slide. These things seem to like being run hard.

Someone told me to shoot this gun like it owes you money. I have done that consistently, and both have run surprisingly well for me.

I had an XD9. It was just one I could not get use too. I tried a Taurus pt211 and like it way better plus it has double action and can get mags in 8, 10 or 12 without the need of grip extender. So I sold the XD. Nice thing was I got the PT211 when there was a sale where you got a Heritage 22 free. Sold the 22 for 100 so I got the 211 for a song.

Have tried various XDs with their different grip configurations and never could get a comfortable grip with any of them. Not a big fan of the grip safety design either. Haven't seen the new Hellcat yet so maybe there's hope!

I have no experience but they don't feel right in my hand. Now I have a Walther PPQ, and a tactical fnx and those feel good in my hand. Wished the XD's had a good feel for me as I am a Springfield Armory fan and all my 1911's are made by them.

That mirrors my experience. They need to be lubed properly. They need a firm grip and do not tolerate limp writing well. And when you chamber a round you better do it like you mean it. The stronger and more deliberate your actions, and the less you baby it, the better it runs.
