Springfield Armory XDs

I shot two mags through it and liked it. It is smaller and much lighter than my other .45s
If you liked how XD-S shoots, then it's fine. I didn't like the undercut, but it's very dependent on the hands. The grip safety is very welcome if you have to transfer it from holster to holster often. You can get magazines up to 7 rounds - same as Shield 45. I think Shield is just slightly shorter in the grip because its magazines are semi-staggered, but XD-S is fine if you're familiar with a 1911 Commander.

I'm sad to report that my trade deal fell through. Now I have to decide how badly I want the XDS.
I had already gotten my head around selling my 3.5" 1911.

Thanks for the heads up as I am back at the drawing board, so to speak. I am not yet ready to be without a .45acp carry gun. But yes, I do have a Commander. 20191226_103020.jpg

I bought a 1st Gen XDS 40 to replace a woefully inaccurate Shield. I'll second the comments on the pineapple grip leaving marks, heavy trigger, and incredible accuracy despite the trigger.

My detective brother liked mine so much that he bought the 9mm version for his backup gun.

Ah crap. That’s a bummer. But in the up side, there’s a lot of them out there. Maybe making a few calls would round another one up. Gunbroker has a bunch.

I’ve actually thought about picking up a 9mm also.

I REALLY wish they had chambered the XDs in 38 Super.

I forgot to mention, if you want a full three finger grip on the gun, but want to keep the size as small as possible, then the 6 round magazine is the sweet spot. The 7 rounders start making the gun bigger than I care for for concealment.

This looks so nice. And I am sure that with your years of practice you aren't going to forget to swipe the safety off.

I went to Ruger's website, and the spec weight is 29 oz with change. The official weight for XD-S is 21.5 oz with a 5 round magazine. I estimate 23.5 oz with the 7-rounder. I can see why one can consider a change.

If you aren't having any back of hip problems that prevent you from keeping the Ruger, you might as well stick with what works. I am not strong, so even XD-S was too much.

I shot a friends XDS 45 and did not like it at all, don't think he likes it much either. Mostly the trigger also the grip.
Personal preference only though, you may be very happy with it.

I am not trading the ruger SR1911CMD commander....

It's the American Classic Amigo 3.5"1911 ( it's an officer size) that is on the chopping block....
