i had recently bought some old 148 gr hollow base wadcutters in my lgs from somebody's old reloading stash. i loaded flush and some above flush where there was a band. some ended up slightly below flush due to the buildup of lube on the seating die. i was only using 2.7 gr of bullseye so i just shot the bullets that were similarly seated. they make nice round holes and as expected very soft shooting. fairly minimal leading on cleaning the barrels; an occassional sliver of lead is noted. i didn't shoot them benched or compared them to my 148 gr DEWC from xtreme(i really should have done that) so I can't say they are more accurate than DEWCs.

I took my s&w 586 4 inch, 5 inch gp 100 and a 6 inch half lug gp 100 with the worst trigger of the three. fun and soft shooting with nice round holes. it was windy and in the 40s but at least it was sunny.

I typically shoot my videos with the first shots for the range outing recorded and i haven't shot the revolvers in a while so that DA trigger pull on the gp100 seemed to go on forever. I know I stage the trigger but it's ok by me. the 586 i have is from the new classic series but the trigger was so smooth and linear after replacing the trigger rebound spring, i didn't bother changing the hammer spring. that trigger is much nicer than the gp100s.

It's interesting that they leave a less perfect round hole on reactive targets or is that video quality?

I love shooting wadcutters. I don't enjoy loading them very much but love shooting them. My 1911 is, of course, exceptionally picky about depth and rim contour.

i think your right. i remember that even with SWC on regular target paper I would get nice punched out holes , like with a paper puncher but it doesn't look as nice and round on the shoot n see targets. i don't know why. but it shouldn't be a video issue. i looked at my last video from cz 97b shooting 200 gr swcs, again less than perfect round holes but i know I get round holes on regular paper.

this my son's target shot with extreme DEWCs( AN OLD PIC). nice and round. different compared to the holes on the shoot n see targets. 20170218_142946_copy_3024x1701.jpg

Still looks like a fun... if windy day.
