I was wondering, I have been reading and can find nothing definitive. Can you simply convert the APX in 9 to .40S&W with a full slide, barrel, recoil spring, and mags?

Thanks.

Maybe ask at the Beretta forum? Info about an unpopular 9mm being converted to an unpopular caliber may be a tough ask.

I don't think the extractor would function properly going from 9m to 40. I think a full slide assembly would be needed,

The trigger assembly is removeable and is the serial numbered part and is considered to be the "firearm" -------pretty sure everything else can be changed as long as you have the correct parts.

A whole new gun would probably be cheaper though.

Bud's is selling a brand new Beretta APX in 40S&W for $337 shipped.

I would gather that a barrel, complete slide, recoil spring, and a couple of magazines would cost more than that.

That's what crossed my mind, since you'd be buying major parts out of the parts department, it would probably be cheaper to buy something that was born a .40 cal.

I was just curious to see if I could get all I needed to convert my APX in 9 to 40 for less than a new gun, that appears to not be the case.

Even SIG’s xchange kits for the 320 cost almost as much as a new gun and they advertise the ability to switch calibers, so I’d have to agree it would be cheaper just to buy a 40 APX.

I used to be in the motorcycle biz back in the very early 80's and if I had a nickel for every time someone asked me about a "basket case Harley" I could buy a large coffee at Starbucks. Maybe even with a scone on the side. Thing was, in those cases as in what you were considering is the cost of what you'd have to buy in order to achieve your goal. If you priced anything out of the parts department, even bearing in mind you are saving all the labor of the finished product, you'll spend 2 - 3 times the cost of the finished good.
