Finally received a gift ordered from my wife. Yes, I'm the one that researched it and selected it and did everything for the FFL..... but she paid...... So technically it is a gift. ;-)

Love the trigger on the Canik firearms. Wish they offered it in 45 acp as well.

For the price and what is offered, it's pretty hard to beat.

No worries, I didn't feel insulted. I do have a Security 9. It's an excellent semi, the only thing I don't like is the little bit of takeup before the hammer strikes. It sometimes affects my aim. I guess I've gotten used to striker fired semi's. I will say that I have a number of 1911's in 45 and 9mm as well as a couple of Bersa Thunder firearms that are hammer fired. All of these however. don't have that small pull before the hammer strikes. It's accurate and I have a 15 and 17 round magazine.

Range report. Purchased 50 seller & bellot 124 gr rounds. Had 5 misfires, but I expected that as you typically need a couple hundred rounds for the spring to break in. Also, I've heard that because Caniks are from turkey, their springs are configured for 124 gr NATO rounds. After that I used 50 of my RMR 124 gr fmj reloads. Didn't have one misfire with them. Feeling confident, I loaded 15 147 gr ACME FP coated bullets. Had two misfires with those. All in all I'm very happy with the Canik. Accuracy was also excellent. Because they were getting ready to close the range, I shot the small silhouette to the left of the full size Target at 7 yds quickly.

Not bad.

I expect the spring to fully settle in another 100 rounds. After that I'll try 115 grain bullets. I know once those fire properly, it'll be ready for any 9mm reloads I throw at it.

FYI this is my second Canik. I have a TP9sx as well with a 4.19 inch barrel. That one we has never misfired regardless of bullet grain weight.

BLUF for the price and what you get (match grade barrel sweet trigger), you can't go wrong.

Thx

You know I can also see the resemblance with your Canik TP9 Elite SC and the Ruger SR9c! And that's a great thing too as I think both guns have a very solid design along with some great ergonomics. Plus your TP9 Elite looks to have the accuracy potential there so hopefully you'll get things sorted out with the misfires and then it will be good to go!

THX. They do look very similar. I have a Ruger Security 9, and while it is a good shooter, I don't like how the hammer feels. I wonder if they'll eventually come out with a striker fired Security 9. Is the SR9Cca striker fired semi?

I went out today to the Range and took it the Canik again. Much better performance with the 124's. A fella leaving gave me his last 10 rounds because he couldn't use them up before having to go. I thanked him and put them in the magazine, without asking or looking at the weight. Lo and behold they were 115gr 9mm bullets. Yeah those would not rack the slide reliably causing jams. The 124's however, seemed to cycle much better today. I did view Honest Outlaw's review on the Canik SC Elite. I know he mentioned running 124's because that's the standard in European armed services. If not he recommended having them send a lighter spring to allow easier cycling.

I looked in their website, but because the firearms is a new release, they didn't have recoil springs for it. I did however inquire about getting a lighter spring. We'll see how things go. I typically reload 124's, but I don't like a firearm that is finicky with ammo.

I'll be taking it out again in the middle of the week. I expect added improvement in cycling.

Yes the SR9c is striker fired and thankfully isn't the least bit fussy about ammo. I do have an older Glock 17 and a Manurhin P1 that both are finicky about 115 gr. ammo but do just fine with 124 gr. and up.

That's nice. Should have gotten the SR9c instead of the Security 9. Maybe I'll trade up.

A Glock finicky Wow. I have a G17 and it eats anything I feed it. It'll probably be a hand over to my daughter. It's rock solid reliable, but it is boring to me. Don't get me won't I'm all for reliability, that's why my daughter will probably get it, but it isn't fun for me. When I get a firearm I expect to have to make some adjustments. That's probably why my most favorite ones right now are the m&p's I own and my new Canik. I feel a sense of satisfaction in making the adjustments.
