Now to take apart the 7.35. I am missing the lower band, screw, and sling loop for it. Looking to order them right away.

The 7.5 cleaned up nice. Lots or surface rust on the firing pin. All fixed up. Stock cleaned up nice. Put a new coat of linseed oil on it. Will reassemble shortly. Was busy getting the few missing parts. They are getting hard to find.

Someone on THR a few years ago was converting a 7.5 Carcano to 7.62x39; I don't recall how that turned out.

They are fun rifles with gain twist rifling, and for quite a while you could find Beretta factory made examples for less than the price of a Mosin 91/30. I've found the examples made when Italy was not at war have far better fit and finish.

It makes me happy to see you taking care of those rifles. The only advice I have is to go shoot them! I have a 6.5 that I handload for. It is a really sweet shooting rifle. Just hold the front sight tip at the bottom of the narrow V.

If y’all would like to see some pics of the rifles before they we’re cleaned up, I have a few.

I’m glad that you are happy with the rifles. The were just sitting in my collection. I bought them several years ago and really never did anything with them. I was never a big fan of Carcanos, but some how ended up with 9 in my collection.
It’s good to see that they are in a good home where they are getting the love they deserve.
I remember buying the 7.35 from a member over at SRF. I had bought it to go with my Finn collection.
The 6.5, I had picked up at a small gun shop in PA. The shop was next door to my buddie’s house. The had just bought it from a WWII Veteran that said he had brought it home from the war.
As per our text, I have a bayonet lug for the 6.5 somewhere in my parts. As soon as I find it I’ll send it to you.

I reload for 7.35, but still haven’t found a proper trim die. My 7.35 Carcano is also marked with SA.

I got to thinking about ammo... wonder how a 7.35 will do with a cast LRN-GC... thinking about a 170grainer oughta be about right. What was that diameter? Well, if it'll bust a clay bird at 100-150yds and hold a tad high to hit at 200, that oughta be in line with what Ian was saying in his videos.

Accurate Molds offers a couple 7.35 designs, both with and without GC. I wonder where you'd find suitable GCs in 7.35 though.

For the price you can't beat them. One of the most consistent trimmers for case length out there.

I had to trim the end of the one for my .270 about .015" for proper trimmed length. Easy to do with a grinder, dremmel or file. Be careful with the grinder or dremmel though!

Gunny your FFL called today. He has your new rifle that I sent. The last part for the 7.35 came in today. It is now complete. Looks great. Stock a bit dry will give it some more linseed oil. Had a credit card problem (fraud). New one arrived today. Now I can get my Carcano dies and some brass. I use a single card for online ordering. Other cards for travel and still another for local purchases. All part of the money game. Carcano’s seem pretty nice. Not at all what I expected.

I stopped in at the shop today on my way home, and my buddy told Me the gun Enfield was in. But he was so busy, he didn’t have it logged in yet. I’ll pick it up on my way home tomorrow.

I picked it up yesterday. My buddy didn’t charge me a transfer fee. :)
The rifle looks great. It’s only missing the screw at the back of the nose cap, but I think I have one in my parts box.
Ain’t it great when you make a trade with someone and you both end up extremely happy with the deal.:)

Oh! By the way, I had a big change in my retirement plans. After talking with the Accounting department yesterday it looks like I will not be retiring on August the 28th. :(. I have to burn up close to 900 hours of sick and vacation time, or loose it. I’m going to my doctor next week and will be going on sick leave, due to on going medical conditions. So my last work day will be Friday. (That’s two days away) Looks like my retirement date will end up being in December or January. Now I have the time to search for that bayonet lug for you Carcano.

I thought they would be junky. Expected crudeness with bad triggers.

You know a gun of the same Kinda time frame that has a crude trigger is that darn 1886 Lebel.. That thing looks and feels so crude. Also that elevator could have used a little work.

The earlier 1891 Carcano full long rifles are works of art in many ways.

An off story, I got mine at an auction real cheap because 2 yokels were messing with it. Put on the Safety and no one there knew how to "fix" the rifle. So the Auctioneer sold it as froze up. And the 2 yokels who did it told everyone ahead of time it was broken.. But they did not do break it...
