Yes—but only if it’s a
Good-looking Lady.

This was the case in Bass Pro years ago but she was passing as I was at the cashier.

And she had Long Legs .:)

I’ve never read about criminals open-carrying.
In a holster?

I live in an open carry state but don't see many open carriers. If I did I'd not do or say anything, just leave the matter alone.

Oh .... if I thought it was a nice looking gun I might drool a bit. (Thank God for masks!!!! ;) )

The older I get the less inclination I have to engage random strangers in conversation.

I don't care if your gun is about to fall out of the holster, you'll figure it out when it hits the ground.

The only exception to that would be if I was someplace where I knew open carry was illegal. Even then I would politely mention it one time after that you're on your own.

I mind my own business in all things, except when there is an obvious real problem- not an imagined one. People who confront others who are open carrying must want to be involved in drama. If they were truly afraid, they would not confront the individual unless they were just stupid.

You'll never lose money on a bet on how stupid some people are and how many of them there are.

When we lived in Tennessee I saw OC occasionally and never heard anyone get excited. I didn't OC, prefer to be the unknow element. Now living in Florida and there is no OC. I have enough problems without creating more by confronting someone over a legal act.

I live in OC state and will OC in my rural area, other than believing OC in “town” is a tactical disadvantage I wouldn’t give it a second thought if witnessing it.

Now somebody with sagging britches and a bulge at the waist would be an attention getter.

I read this on another forum and it made me curious.

According to the poster he was shopping in a store in Arizona (generally OC friendly state) and encountered a man open carrying. According to the poster he first questioned the guy as to whether or not he was a cop then went a found a manager when the guy essentially told him to mind his own business.

He said he went and found the manager and asked what the store's CCW policy was, the manager told him he couldn't care less and that's where it ended.

I don't open carry but if you do it's not my business and I wouldn't question your choice. I certainly wouldn't call a complete stranger out on it and especially I wouldn't get involved in Arizona.

So if you run into someone open carrying do you involve yourself with them or mind your own business?
Was this poster looking for empathy? It sounds like an intensely stupid thing to do from start to finish. Confronting someone about a perfectly legal activity, in a store that doesn't prohibit that activity, then talking to the manager about that legal, non prohibited activity and then posting about it on a firearms forum? Have to wonder if the dude was dropped on his head often as an infant.

He didn't start the discussion. The topic was two senators from Connecticut who asked Subway Sandwiches to ban open carry in their stores.

He just chimed in

It's been awhile since I've seen one but there used to be reoccurring discussions on internet gun forums in which some poster breathlessly recounted how he saw somebody open carrying in McDonald's or Walmart or Target or Taco Bell and either berated them for their stupidity or thank them for supporting the right to keep and bear arms.

That's one of the reasons I quit open carrying. I see no reason to invite idiots like that into my life

Still, you have to wonder. Was he/she aware when they did this that the carrier wasn't breaking any laws or rules? I'm trying to wrap my mind around why anybody would do what you describe.

I don't see it much, but I do see it. I'm assuming that's because I'm in Metro Phoenix and most people conceal. I've never cared when it's just some one with a gun hanging off their belt. I do move away when it appears obvious that they're hoping someone will say something.

I see it quite a lot, I live in a free state. NH. I did it yesterday, over 90 degrees and sweltering hot. As a rule I don't O.C. but I had to take my shirt off or die. If I were to guess I see it here at least weekly, I don't go out much though.

It's no big deal and nobody freaks out. Well the occasional Masshole but we shut them up pretty quickly.

Where in NH are you located? I live in Mass about 25 minutes from NH.

I am all for open carry. The Right to bear arms means the Right to BEAR arms. I won't question any American this right. In fact, I highly encourage them to exercise it. However, I do shake my head when I see people wearing a pistol in an open top, no strap, no retention holster.... usually on the right side, BEHIND their hip... Where anyone can walk right up and yoink it right out (and it does happen, I'm afraid). You can also tell when they are utterly oblivious to the world around them.

If somebody is openly carrying, chances are they are law abiding, and the least of your concerns.
I wouldn’t say anything unless it were complimentary

I think people who open carry are ignorant. It makes you more vulnerable not safer. It’s like walking around flashing cash. Said individual is looking for trouble in my opinion. It’s like playing poker and telling your adversary what you’re holding. The wise individual does not advertise what he is capable of.

I have complimented people wearing t-shirts that made me smile (one read, "On your mark, get set, go ... away"). I might compliment someone open carrying if I liked his or her rig. I'd never accost someone because he or she was open carrying.

I think Casefull is right. To each his own, I figure... but displaying what force you are carrying, while not knowing who is good, bad or indifferent around you, is a bit silly.
If I were bad, with the intent to cause harm, that guy open carrying would be my first target.
And I’d get the drop on him too, because I know, and he doesn’t, and at that point the game is on my terms!

everyone expecting a participation trophy for being politically correct and woke is getting old.
Yes, yes it is ... but them's the rules here in greater Pugetropolis these days, apparently, where we allow Antifa and "protesters" to take over entire city blocks, police precincts and looting is allowed because, hey, BLM and their cause is the politically correct one. I've half a mind to start OCing religiously just to pi$$ off our multitudes of soccer moms and liberal-a$$ Microsoft tech geeks who are driving my property taxes through the roof (although when I do leave, apparently I'll make money on the sale of my house).
