My LGS has had one in the display for quite a long time now. I've been vacillating on this for several months due to the barrel length. I personally prefer a 4.5 to 5.5" barrel for use as a trail gun. However I am anticipating their Black Friday sale which would make this a great deal. But is a 6.5"
barrel a bit cumbersome as a hiker/ hunting companion? Who carries one (or another caliber w/ a long barrel length)?

I have a 6.5” blackhawk in .41 and I used to think it was a bit cumbersome but that was mostly due to the type of holster I was using. I’ve since gotten a sourdough pancake holster from simply rugged and now my opinion is totally changed. Very comfortable way to tote around a large gun.
That said, especially if you get it at a good price, 41 magnum is an awesome cartridge with a loyal following. Last but not least a ruger Blackhawk is great gun that will handle anything you can throw at it.

I have a Bisley in 41 with a 5.5" and a Redhawk 44 with a 7.5". I'd have no reservations about the Blackhawk with the long barrel. It'll be a raygun, and for what you give up in handiness the weight from the extra barrel makes the gun hang nice in the air. The Bisley is my single favorite handgun and 41 magnum is my favorite handgun caliber, more authority than 357 and easier to handle than 44.

Simply Rugged also makes a crossdraw Cattleman holster. Very comfortable with a 4-5/8" barrel BH (or SBH). I wouldn't hesitate to try a longer barrel with one of those holsters. I think it'd work out very well.

.41 Mag with a 6.5" barrel should get some very nice velocities with 220-230gr hardcast and 300-MP.

We all have our preferences, and for trail use, I actually preferred the 6.5" .357 Blackhawk I had over the 4&5/8" I have now. And I sure wish my .357 Blackhawk was a .41 Mag. In other words, I buy it in a heartbeat.:D
Besides, you can always have the barrel shortened if you want. My wife sent her 10.5" Super Blackhawk 44 Mag back to Ruger to have them install a 6" barrel on it. She figured the 6" barrel would be better than the 10.5" barrel for "trail use." I don't remember what it cost, but I do know my wife hasn't actually carried that revolver on the "trail" or anywhere else in the 30 some-odd years she's had it.o_O
It doesn't matter - "happy wife" and all that.;)

I have Blackhawks in both barrel lengths. I can carry the longer barrels comfortably but at 6'5" I have some leeway. I can only suggest you get the one you saw and an appropriate holster. I love Blackhawks and 41 magnum has become my favorite larger caliber. (The other is 32 long in an old Single-Six 32 mag.)

If you get the BH, I suggest you plan on reloading. Commercial 41 mag ammo is not as common as 357 or 44 and it is a dream cartridge for reloading. Assuming you can find the components.

I literally won that exact model .41 Blackhawk yesterday for $555 bucks. I’ve lost other auctions recently in the $700 range..I hope your store goes for a lower price so you get a great deal!

Mine will be in the regulatory penalty box for ten days after I sign for it. :(

Good luck!
