No experience with either of those. But I have heard recently people were having trouble getting Colt to respond on some customer service.

I've wanted to get one of those Kimber's as I really like the look and feel of them. That is the route I would go, but you specifically asked for those with experience with both.

If I were to get a Colt I would splurge for the newer Python.

I have the 3 inch king cobra in a Kramer OWB horsehide holster. It’s the finest carry setup I’ve ever used. Your forget it’s there. 6 rounds of controllable 357 magnum. BUTTER smooth and light crisp DA trigger!! 28 oz gun. Perfect weight and size

....the Colt King Cobra and the Kimber K6, which would you choose?

I think both are accurate, reliable, quality guns. For me, it came down to size, weight and ease of concealment. I went with Kimber.

[EDIT: I don't have experience with either, but...] Both should be good. Based on what I have seen posted, I would give the nod to the Kimber as of today based on odds of getting a good specimen.

In before the resident save-you-from-yourself crowd tells you you don't have enough ammo to defend against multiple assailants... :uhoh:

For years and years I tried to rationalize my gun purchases to my spouse. Then, like an immovable object trying to hold back an irresistible force... she gave up.

I never question her spending...and she tolerates mine. A truly mutual fiscal detente’ has been reached.

As for the guns, the Kimber may be a bit “flatter” to conceal with the shape of the cylinder...and the one I held and dry-fired was really a nice gun... but MAN that Colt trigger is awesome! (Mine is a new Cobra .38)

A great problem to have, I don’t think you could go wrong with either one. :)

Stay safe.

I know they're both great. Like you say, I like the flatter profile of the Kimber. But there's just something about a Colt. I've heard the triggers on these are fantastic.
There's an indoor range in Little Rock that rents guns. I may have to go shoot both if they have them available.

Me too. One had to go. I’ve not missed her too much. The dollar goes a LONG way and sometimes people bend over backwards to earn it.

Not that I’m advocating that lifestyle.
My wife puts up with my (many) faults... and I with her (much fewer) ones, too. The sign of a good union I guess.

My first wife and I suffered from terminal incompatibility...I am much, much better off now than I was twenty five years ago when we divorced.

(My gun collection has grown exponentially since then, too ;). )

Stay safe.

I own the Kimber K6s in DAO and have shot the Colt. Both are nice but I prefer the Kimber. I think it has a better finish, better sights and more choices of sights, Kimber is smaller and lighter. Kimber has a recessed cylinder and is fully carry rounded with a shrouded hammer which I prefer for carry ( but it does come in DASA if that’s your flavor). For me, the surface and shape of Kimber’s trigger felt better on my finger.

I really like my K6s. No experience with the Colt. If the trigger on the Colt is that much nicer, you'd better go with that. It's hard for me to imagine a trigger noticeably better than the one on my Kimber.

I’ve got the 4” Kimber DASA and one of the newer Cobras in .38. The trigger on the Cobra is better, but the sights on the Kimber are much nicer.

The grip on the Kimber looks real nice but it’s small for shooting. I’m considering getting a Hogue grip for it.

I don’t think you’d go wrong with either. I pulled the trigger on the Kimber after I heard they were moving from NY to Alabama. I figured now is the time to get one. Once they move it might take a little while to get their ducks in a row and quality might take it hit.

This is truly a hard choice. Both are great. I don’t think you could go wrong Ethier way. In the revolver double action world the trigger is a BIG deal! Follow up shots!! (Colt)

I agree about the Kimber wood grips. I switched over to the Kimber rubber grip. Night and day in the comfort and control department. I like the smooth polymer end cap and side inserts. They are strategically placed to reduce cover garments clinging to the grips. In winter I use a Mika pocket holster to carry in a coat, jacket or outerwear vest. In warmer weather IWB slanted appendix carry in a Tucker kydex disappears under a square bottomed button front shirt or even a T shirt. At 5’ 7” 180 lbs I can’t do that with the Colt. It’s just that little bit too big and heavy. Ammo in a Zeta6 K-PAK and a slim little 4.5” Persian is very comfortable.
