Sorry, tried to answer but I cannot narrow it down to my 5 favorite knives :(

My most recent 2 are a Helle Harding Puuko and a Jeo-Tec #29 bushcraft knife with ancient olivewood handle:

I wanted a working EDC knife that I didn't have to worry about dinging up. The blade is 4.92 inches MOVA-58 stainless (.2" thick) and is likely OEM'd in quantity (China ?) as I have seen similar blades from other companies. I was intrigued by the ancient olivewood handle and I think it is purty. The knife is assembled by Jeo-Tec in Spain and retailed for $125 on Amazon.

My knowledge of what’s collectible, values and what will appeal to me is limited so don’t take me as some knife guru.

These four are knives I own.

A Gladstone Marble’s #45 “Ideal” made between 1923 and 1936.
Three Puukko types
Brusletto from Norway, 6"
Lissakki Jarvenpaa from Finland, 5-3/4"
Haugrud from Norway, 4"

I’ve been doing a lot of research and a Buck 119 and 103 look like winners and I really like the puukko types from Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Much research and shopping as I form my taste in knives.

Gerber Magnum. Christmas gift when I was about 15. Carried it a long time.

Woods knife. A trade with a dear friend years ago.

An old SAK Tinker. My first “real” pocket knife. My mom bought it for me at the knife store at Ala Moana mall.

Spyderco Delica. Used all day. Every day.

The Classic Sebenza. Just an extraordinary knife. 5EC0515A-8E42-4D0F-862A-8A0745C4622D.jpeg

James Crowell Bowie. My first handmade knife.

A Trench dagger my dad brought home from WWII.

A Lile Sly II. Picked it up from Jimmy at the Market Hall gun show.

A Randall #1. ‘Cause it’s the iconic Randall.

A well worn Air Force jet pilot knife. Carried that on my SWAT gear for about 15 years. 645FC6CA-6623-49EC-B0F9-D31C85968A62.jpeg

I’ve been blessed in the world of knives, way more than I need or deserve.

(Actually, I’ve just been blessed all around most of my life)

I really had to try and come up with “favorites”. Some are favorites because of the story or the memory they have for me.

That's very interesting. I've done that for years -- decades really, when it comes to firearms. I finally hit a point, where I felt I had all the guns I really desired. I'll still buy some if the right deal presents itself -- something I can't walk away from, but the days of coveting firearms I wanted to own, rather than actually enjoying the ones I do own is at an end (it didn't happen until I hit triple digits), and I like that feeling a lot.

Though my knife collection is actually older than my gun collection, it's minuscule and shallow in comparison. I'm focusing on the "foundational knives" -- much as I did with firearms, years ago. There's about 15-20 that I would like to add to my collection. It's this process of searching and discovery that's refining my own tastes in knives. It's amazing how some knives stay on the list until purchased (e.g. Buck 110), while other might last a week on the list (e.g. Cold Steel Chaos.)
