Winchester 70s

I'd get a Model 70 Featherweight stainless or Extreme Weather. I like 243 Winchester, 270 Winchester, and 270 WSM. If I am going to buy a model 70 these days I like to examine it in person first. Make sure the lock up feels good.

What? Where was this? I just picked up a new Featherweight for $849 at my local Cabela's a few weeks ago. Didn't have to order it, they had a bunch in stock. And my Sportsman's Warehouse continues to get bolt action rifles in stock; right now, I'm going back and forth between a Tikka and a CZ...

The $1200-plus rifles should be the Super Grades.

Times they are achangin'. Perhaps they will normalize someday?

A Ruger No. 1 Tropical SS in 405 Winchester on Gunbroker caught my eye because I have one. The starting bid is $2150. Yeah, baby!! Divide that by three and that is approx. what I paid for mine.

If it were me, I’d sort that 700 barrel out first and worry about acquiring a Winchester later. No sense owning one you cannot use and paying for a second as yet untested.
