One Cartridge Per Platform Choice

I'm pretty basic and old fashioned.
I'd take a bolt rifle, a pump shotgun and a single action revolver in 5.5".
I'd want them in .30-06, 12 gauge and .44 magnum.

I'm pretty close to @Arkansas Paul ... but not quite.

Rifle: Bolt action in .280 Ackley Improved. I'm already a hand loader and prefer the ballistics of the .284 over the .30 caliber.
Shotgun: 12 gauge pump ... with multiple barrels: 28-inch vent rib with removable chokes, 24-inch rifled slug, and 18.5-inch cylinder (a 20 gauge would be just as good).
Handgun: As posted before, it would be a 4-inch Ruger GP100 in .357 magnum. Load it from mild to wild. Barrel length is a compromise of course, but this whole exercise is one of compromise.

Yeah, the .375 is growing on me, too. More practical than many realize. It just eats a lot of powder!

True, its actually my second or third most powder consumptive cartridge. The 28nosler beats it, and the .300wm comes in a little under with most loading.
Still tho for the capability, its a bargain.

I'm about the same. I could (and have) replace the 30-06 with my 308 Norma Mag of course. However, a nice bolt action in 375 H&H would suit me just fine too.
I just flat-out like 44 Magnums though, and I'm a handloader. So if I could only have one handgun, it would be a 44 Magnum in some configuration.

I'm into handguns, shotguns and rifles not so much.
Should I entertain the possibility of a nationwide AWB asininely and artificially limiting mag capacity to 10 rounds, no grandfathering?
Technically, that possibility wouldn't change my answer since my current carry is a 45 acp 1911.
Whether a 1911 or a Glock 30SF there are easily concealed 45 acp pistols.
If I had to use FMJ (whether by stupid law or inconceivably ran out of HP) then 45 FMJ would be preferred over lesser FMJ.

Uh, Glock ... AR10 (but M14/M1A is awful close) and pump.

At this point in my life it would be Ruger M77/44, Remington 870, Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 mag.

If Ruger answered my prayers and made a M77/45 it would be that and the same shotgun and the revolver would be flat top 45 colt Blackhawk. Perfect.

Ima marlin 336 .30-30, 20ga sxs, ruger single six. 22lr/.22mag kinda guy......(today)

Versatility is the name of the game here. I’m going with 45-70 guide gun as I can crank it up or down depending upon what I’m up against. Maverick 12ga pump, same reason. The handgun is just for defense at that point so might as well do it right. I’m thinking something like maybe a Schofield or maybe a Freedom Arms. If it’s an auto loader I’m going with a BHP done up by Turnbull.

45-70- pick the rifle- a good marlin, Henry or winchester

454 casull- either a freedom arms or ruger srh - either would be fine

12 gauge - Mossberg 500 or 590


All these guns go up to insane and down to sedate, who could ask for more?

Handgun = 9x19 (To be compatible with my "shotgun")
Rifle = 5.56x45 (It's a .22, right?)
"Shotgun" = 9x19 as seen below

Shotgunning starts around the 3:18 mark.

Rifle: A good bolt .30/06. (Even though I don’t own one. )

Shotgun: A good pump 12 ga. (Have one)

Habdgun: 4” 686+. .357. (Got one of these, too.)

I’ll be set anywhere for just about anything.

All pretty easy to feed under normal circumstances, easy to maintain, and reliable.

Ruger Blackhawk 7.5 inch barrel chambered in .44 Remington Magnum

If I could, I'd forfeit the Mossberg 500 for a Winchester Model 1895 chambered in 30-06 Springfield.

Although I'll beat DM to it and say a Drilling would be a neat solution for 2/3 of the quandry.
In that case it'd be 16x16 ga over 9.3x74R, and .45 ACP.

9mm handgun

Those would cover me in almost any situation where I might need a firearm.

If this restriction doesn’t require me to be limited in ammunition or ammunition components, I think I would choose:

Marlin 1895-45/70
Benelli Nova-12 Gauge
Glock 21

If I was restricted in my ammunition I would choose:

Marlin 1894-44 Mag
Benelli Nova-12 Gauge
Ruger Redhawk-44 Mag.

With those combined with my hunting skills, I should easily be able to acquire more platforms and calibers......that I wouldn’t tell anyone about.
