I have Geissele SSAs (not SSA -E) in two of my rifles, and I can honestly say I cannot tell the difference between them and my two rifles with Larue MBT2s. If anything, the Larues are a bit lighter, 3.75#, and almost a THIRD of the price. Given Larue's reputation for quality, the feel of the trigger, and the price, FOR $80 I'm going with Larues in my next two builds. (If Larue needs me for an ad or commercial, I AM available!) They can just pay me in triggers! LOL

I gotta say I was a little underwhelmed by my LaRue 2-stage. I ordered it soon after completing my DMR build, before the original CMMG unit had really had a chance to break-in. After firing 3-400 rounds, cleaning and greasing, the GI-type trigger was surprisingly smooth, with a crisp break and almost no take-up.

I was all excited to try the LaRue, and its fine- but not a $75 improvement. The reset is less harsh, but it still has a tiny amount of creep in the 2nd stage.

Not sure if my experience with the CMMG is typical, Ive got an Andersen kit in both my other builds and they are plenty gritty, though ok for CQB.

By far the best is the proprietary drop-in unit in my Patriot Ord. Factory P308. Damn, thats a nice trigger!

Great trigger for the cost.. the pull weights are great.Heck of a bargain.

BUT, I can't get over the trigger face, those squared edges ( no where near a USGI curved, and rounded face ) kinda drive me nut's.

I've got a few of the MBT-2S straight bows and have been very happy with them.

I really can't say anything bad about my LaRue MBT2S. It was priced right and it's just about the cleanest crispest icicle break you could get, that said. I like my Geissele better. I wish the LaRue had a regular profile bow that doesn't have the wide flat face, it doesn't bother or hinder me at all, I just prefer the feel of the regular profile. I put my LaRue on my scoped stainlessAR that's used for more precise shooting. I feel the LaRue is a lil light for a defensive rifle. Once you take up the first stage all you have to do is breathe on it to send a round.

Excellent triggers, especially a sub $100 trigger. I have considered putting in the heavier trigger spring in to see how it feels, maybe I'll do it tomorrow just for fun but I really should do some gun cleaning.

Are you talking about a factory CMMG service trigger?

I ordered mine a couple years ago. I was told that LaRue was notoriously slow on shipping and that I should expect 4-6 weeks because at the time I guess they were making them in to order batches. I placed my order on a Monday and received it the following Monday. I was pleased

elf triggers are talking about sealed bearings which sounds real nice but I just trust a component trigger more. I like Geissele but hard to always spring for $240 plus tax and ship.
I have to say with the stock AR parts kit a trigger upgrade is usually sorely needed. I have seen a factory colt semi auto trigger with a least a few thousand cycles that felt pretty cool.

I am also interested in an AK trigger upgrade.

If you don't want to shell out $240 bones the Geissele G2S is in all practicality the same as an SSA, Bill himself says that after 500 rd break in there is no way to distinguish between the two and the G2S is $160, sometimes on sale for as low as $99.

I was ready to spring for the SSA but I read to many reviews from guys who had many thousands of dollars invested in Geissele triggers who said that the G2S was every bit as good as the SSA, which is a pretty strong indicator because most times guys are invested heavily into a product they advocate for the more expensive thing to justify the added expense to make themselves feel better about spending more money, bragging rights, etc....

Now that I have tried the flat bow Super Dynamic combat, I have to get one. It feels identical to break and reset as the G2s but it has the flat bow, I really like the flat bow. I wish Bill would put out a Super Dynamic G2S. (G2S w/ flat bow). I would be all over that.

I really like my LaRue's. I haven't tried any of the more expensive triggers, but the LaRue's are doing it for me.

My experience mirrors the OP's. I've had a SSA for several years, back before the SSA-E existed, for my 24", 15# target AR.. For the time it was a great trigger but, by today's standards, it's nothing special. Though slight, there is some creep at the second stage. Bought a LaRue for a 20" scoped A4 hunting rifle and it's much crisper with about the same pull weight as the SSA.

Neither of these guns are defensive weapons. My M4gery has a QMS which is the perfect trigger for that style of gun. I recommend LaRues to anyone building an AR for hunting or casual target shooting.

I picked one up in 2019 based on reviews like that on the forums. After a couple hundred rounds through it my MBT-2S comes in at 5.0lbs with the light spring, and 6.0lbs with the heavy spring. It still has a very crisp break, but I was hoping for something lighter than that and have been reluctant to pick up a second because of that.

The Larue is a very nice trigger that should last indefinitely, a great value. I like my GS2 better, on sale at $100, should have bought two
Does the GS2 have the customary internal hammer pin detent or is it some type of external arrangement.

It's just a lil retainer clip thingy that is easy to install and they give you an extra in case you lose it during the install. I can't see any problem with it.
