Rmr lead

That's affirmative.
My best guess is that it'd introduce quality control issues. Or maybe they dont have the staffing and facilities to set up a large scale smelting line when they can buy the proper alloy for less than it'd cost 'em to smelt and re-alloy it in house.
I believe RMR doesn’t do any casting. They are swaging their bullets unless I’m mistaken.
I think most of lead they sell is scrap thier machines kick back out when they are forming the bullet core. Somebody please correct me if they know otherwise.

It's the noodles from swaging and some rejected cores. Dissapoited it's gone now. I wonder if we talked about it too much. I may have mentioned it on castboolits.com....:uhoh:

I don't think they have any plans or interest to cast. Plus they seem like they have been absolutely slammed lately.

If you keep the mold hot they seem to come out alright.

I found these on their website before I posed my original question to longdayjake.

They're out of stock, but they show reviews as recent as late February 2021.

Broke open the one box of two I have recieved and am in the process of making ingots. I will test the ingots because I feel I will get the best average of all the different bits that are included. They may be the same but I'm not guessing. The best test would be a single mix but I am not set up to deal with 60 pounds of molten lead. 20210407_164305.jpg I am using a brand new pot so there will be no cross contamination. 20210407_164259.jpg

Some perfect muffins lol, what's the hardness. If it's soft in May have to get some if it's back in stock.
I have one perfect one with no dimples I plan to test tomorrow. I plan to finish off making ingots and pick two for testing. If they are very different, I dont believe they will be I'll end up testing them all.... :(

Thanks! That’s news to me. If they have the ability to cast Bullets it would certainly seem like a more lucrative way to deal with the swaging scraps then to sell it to us knuckleheads.

I'm hoping it will be fine with 9mm and 300blk light loads powdercoated through a suppressor
If you are gas checking you should be ok. I use 8 and 9 in plain base 45 acp and colt. Higher pressure I want 11 or 12 for pistol plain base. Havent dialed in rifle.

RMR has been my primary source of "bought" lead. As soon as I saw it posted here I knew the party was over.
Sigh.....

I hope it was not good bullet cores.

This is before the bullet core process, so hopefully that means they are not wasting machine time making out of spec cores.

I would prefer a big box of those 'rods' over the scrap cores and noodles, ingots too. The rods look easy to handle and feed into the melter.

Oh I'm very happy with the second box but it seems like I got supplies to fix a postal screwup

This thread keeps reminding me that I have 60 lbs of noodles to melt into ingots. I’m using the cores almost as is as wadcutters for 32swl. I may have a lifetime supply if I buy another 120 lbs. I figure each box I get is good for roughly a decade at the rate I shoot that caliber, but that’s also one of the things I have trouble finding, so it’s a win-win and I don’t even have to buy a mold.

So are you PC the nuggets and shooting them? If so please expound.

Yes. PC, then size. The reject cores are a few different sizes (length) and I sort them by size and coat. They are slightly rounded on each end but that doesn’t seem to be an issue. It’s essentially a full wadcutter in harbor freight White after it’s coated and sized to .314. I’m going to buy a .311 sizer and see how the longer ones do in 30-30

Interesting. I hadn't thought about the 30-30. Now I'm going to have to dig through my box and measure some of those cores!

We no longer make hard cast bullets. I actually sold the machinery to do it. The labor cost to produce them is just too high compared to the speed and profit potential. We decided to let other companies have that market since I really want to focus our efforts on making the best jacketed bullets in the industry. The lead will be back. In fact, I have 2500 lbs of lead still on spools and in a crate if anyone is interested in buying it as is. It has some oxidation on it but it's good lead.
