Nice. Very nice. Pretty much the idea I had in mind when I did up my Lee Enfield like I did...
If I had a bunch of .308 I'd have got one of those, but I didn't...
Now you can't hardly get ANY ammo for a decent price, so it doesn't matter...
At least I go through it a bit slower with the bolt gun.

Hard to find unless you call Larry’s Pistol and Pawn in Madison, AL.
He had four flavors in stock. Got a mil discount.
This will be a fun rifle.

Ah, good ol' Larry's Pistol and Pawn in Madison, Alabama, next to the rusty water tower .....I know it well. I've bought some of my favorite guns from that very store .... my AR-10 ..... my Colt M4orgery .... my Winchester 1873 short rifle (Uberti), the Winchester 1873 long rifle (Miroku), my 1866 Winchester (also Miroku) and my most recent, the Henry Repeating Arms 1860 Henry repro.

I don't know how Larry acquires his great inventory these days .... he must have some pirate DNA!!! :what: :D

Nice M1A Army_eod!

That rifle is sooooo cooooool

I have one I picked up recently, used. Scuffed a bit from prior owners, so I layed on a stencil kit and refinished it in a Rhodesian camo pattern. Sent off for a ball & detent spring for the windage knob, as they were missing. Need to get back to the range with it, initially was impressed with function and shot grouping. Acquired a stash of 30, 20, and 5 round magazines in a "horse-trade". Gonna use it in the Michigan deer woods this year, that's the goal!!

I was sniffing around Buds online offerings in February of last year for a walnut Scout Squad... they just seemed a touch high price-wise so I didn’t buy one. Looking back, man I kick myself for procrastinating :(.

Excellent pick up! Please let us know how it shoots for you when you get a chance to stretch its legs at the range .

Stay safe.

She shoots great. Using M80 ball, very accurate. I zeroed at 25 yards per the manual and verified at 50 and 100 yards. Iron sights. Old eyes. Great firearm. My favorite now.

Nice! You’ll be on a torso sized target out a good distance with that zero .

I know a 5.56 M4 zeroed 25 will hold a “battle zero” covering the average torso out to 250 yds (it goes a bit high in the neck at 75 or so and drops below the belly button at 300).

I use a 50 yd zero on my 5.56 ARs since 95% of any possible shot I may take will be within 200 yards with one, and with a holdover of about a foot I can still hit center mass (on a calm day ;)) at 300.

I tried to find a similar chart for the .308 but ran out of time and couldn’t find one.

Again, you brought home a great rifle, congrats!

Stay safe.

Enjoy it and may it briiing you many happy hours of time on the range.

Mine pictured in the foreground with my AR10 is a pretty basic NM version and was a gift from my wife about 30 years ago. The rifle has delivered plenty of enjoyment on the range. :)

The Bi-Pods are purely props.

I've got it's smaller brother... a Socom16. Love it to death. I actually was looking for a Scout, but couldn't find one. A quick email to Springfield and a reply that they were out of stock, and no tentative date for production, either... what was on the shelves was it, which was nothing. I headed into the gun shop to buy a Standard, and here was this Socom16 thing hanging on the wall right below it... and I went home with the Socom16. That was about 15 years ago. In some ways I wish I would have been able to score a Scout, but it's a fun rifle nonetheless. Like yours, mine sports an M1 Carbine web sling, which is about as useful a sling as there has ever been.

I pulled the cheese grater/heat sink off the barrel and put a standard handguard on it... I don't intend to put an optic on it. When I'm feeling fancy, I put it in USGI Walnut and put a VietNam era vented handguard on it, it looks pretty snappy.

If you are not familiar with the M14/M1a, there is a learning curve to maintaining it, and to handload for it... just so you are aware.

I really want a tanker. I built an AR10 last year, thinking it would be cheaper. I should have just bought a tanker and been ahead.
