I have a Winchester Model 69, a bolt action 22 rimfire rifle, that was my grandfather's rifle. As a child, I remember having a 22 Short magazine for the gun. I'm do not remember if the short magazine came with the gun when my father past away. I have not fired the rilfe in a long time.

I had a Winchester 69A (my son has it now). The box magazine held Short, Long, or Long Rifle by their rims and could feed any length.

I used to use CB Caps all the time in an old Savage single shot rifle for pest control in the garden. The CB caps worked great and more importantly, I didn't disturb Grandma. Those were super quite out of a single shot bolt action with 16" barrel.

Okay. Here’s the magnificent RG10 with a .38Spl Colt DS 3” for comparison.
RG10 most dangerous weapon ever, shoot a victim in the foot the bullet would zip around the body and end up anywhere, plus they were so poorly made they were dangerous to the shooter too and routinely blew up like handgrenades (22 short, about 1 grain of smokeless powder) taking out the shooter and half a city block. I was warned about those Saturday Night Specials in the 1960s. Now that you have shown that, I had to sign the FN logo to drive off the evil spirits.

Your Got me Laughing so hard… Sad thing is, more of what you said it true.

I've always wanted a 22 short target pistol. Does such a thing exist?

Edit: it seems they do.

I have several .22 rifles n pistols capable of shooting shorts properly -pump lever and bolt along with revolvers and have shot plenty out of semi auto .22 lr-mostly cb shorts BUT I did just get a lil .22 semi remington model 24 in short only and it is a hoot so far :) I have a few bricks of shorts I have acquired
over the years and should be great for some varminting around the homestead...

Yes, the 22LR magazine accept and feeds any of the shorter rimfire cartridges.

We had a magazine with a spacer in it that would only accept 22 shorts.

Over the years I stopped shooting 22 Shorts in my guns that are not 22 Short only. I found that shooting CCI CB Longs were much easier to load and I stopped having the carbon ring in the chamber of my guns that shorts leave.
My kids all started shooting 22 rifles with CB Longs. It made it easy to instruct them without having to wear ear plugs when shooting outdoors.
I also like Aguila Colibri ammo. It’s pretty much the same as CCI CB Longs.
For getting rid of those pesky evil squirrels in my yard, I use Aguila Super Colibri. Its just a little more powerful then the Colibri. I’ve shot and killed squirrels out to 25 yard.
Shot this squirrel at about 25 years. Hit him behind the left shoulder and found the bullet in the right side of his neck.

I wish shorts were more available and cheaper than LR like they used to be. They were accurate enough for plinking out to 50yds. As long as you keep the chamber clean no problem. BP and corrosive priming caused chamber pitting that would make LR stick in the old days. Today you just have to watch for a carbon ring. I have quite a few vintage bolt actions. Some of the Mossbergs will hold 30 shorts. Super Colibries are great if you can find them. I think I,m down to a couple 100. They have been fine in almost all my rifles up to 24". Just pay attention. The 26" barrels tend to stick.

What I used to like were the Remington CeeBees. Those fed fine in my old Mk1 as a straight-pull single shot. Knew the truncated cone bullet was wasted at those velocities, but they would cycle through that and my MP22 without hanging up and were still quieter than a pellet pistol.

I had an RG10 too. Got it with two boxes of Rem Goldens and ended up running about a brick's worth through it before it began falling apart. Even shot genuine Nobel BB caps through it, the kind that comes in the metal can, in my bedroom. Minute-of-tin can, was able to at least put all six on the paper the target was printed on, depending on its mood. Had to super glue the front sight back on a couple times.

Yeah, you’ll notice mine’s already lost the ejector assembly and center pin. I got for five dollars at a gunsmith’s abandoned repairs sale. I figure I can always sell it to the Sheriff the next county over if I ever get desperate for Chinese slave labor made sneakers.

Found mine in an old tackle box from a house cleanout back in the eighties. My boss said I could keep it because it wasn't worth bothering with for him. Ended up selling it for twenty bucks to a guy who just wanted a tackle box gun, this closing the circle.

$5 ! oooh yeah

That's one thing I do like about my Winchester 190, It will feed and shoot 22S, 22L, and 22LR just fine. I haven't tried any of the CB shorts or longs in it though. Those probably won't cycle the action.
