The Stinger

I watched a History Channel or American Heroes Channel documentary on the Stinger. Demonstrates the ingenuity of the American soldier. Same thing with the hedge row buster a GI designed to enable tanks to go through the hedge rows in France instead of over them.

I can only imagine the downright conniption the military today would have if a bunch of soldiers and Marines came forward with a modified firearm idea. The paperwork I had to go through just to put an ACS stock on my M4 was ridiculous by itself.

At first I thought you were talking about the Bangalore torpedoes, then realized you meant the Rhino tanks (which see).

Bangalores were also used to breach the hedgerows in Normandy. They could blow a 2-4 meter gap in the hedgerows.

A Bangalore was used to blow up the swastika in that famous film clip from WWII: Click on watch on youtube.

Very cool. I've heard of them but have seen very little about them, as they weren't a standard issue weapon. That video is great. Thank you.

Good video. The A6 (stocked/bipod) 1919’s predated Iwo Jima having been used in combat in 1943 and 1944 but one of their problems were over heating, at a much slower rate of fire. Problems were fixed but not until after WWII.
