Here are some relics found in the sea outside the fort at Puerto Plata, DR.

The top is a rolling block, maybe in 7x57. I’ll guess the middle looks like an 1891 Mauser Argentine 7.65 carbine, the lower is maybe an 1888 Mauser Gewehr 8x57 rifle?

Stay safe.

I think middle one is a Berthier carbine. The short, stubby bolt handle and long trigger guard are giveaways. :)

Nice call .

The short barrel and the winged nose cap made a Spanish-influenced rifle from Argentina my first thought that it was an Argentine Mauser… I didn’t even think about the French rifle in 8mm Lebel. Of course historically Haiti was a French colony , and Haiti had control of the entire island after they were cut loose by France for quite a while, so it makes perfect sense for an old French rifle to be there :).

Stay safe.

I don't think I have ever posted this shot on this site. It's a collection of small arms that would be carried by the well-dressed Union cavalryman sans longarm.
The saber is an M1840 heavy cavalry saber made by Emerson & Silver during the ACW. Its pristine blade would indicate that it was never issued. The M1860 and two 2nd model Dragoon revolvers are Colt 2nd gens. The small backup .22 cal pistol carried by many Union soldiers during the war is a S & W model one 2nd issue. It was the first practical breech-loading pistol made in the US--only made possible by securing the Rollin White patent on the bored-through cylinder which Sam Colt had unfortunately passed on. The field glasses are period correct. All the leather and the hat are reproductions--except the J.E.B. Stuart patent saber hanger which is probably Indian wars vintage
