Whats the most you ever put into a gun?

About $2800 for the 9x23; $3500 for the 45 ACP.

One pic of them both, but here's the thread where lots of them already are posted. 1911 LW Commander gallery

Well, the most I have in any gun is my AR's, which I have around 1k in each. Those are build up projects. The SBR I have in the works will approach $1500.00.

I guess I just buy guns the way I want the first time so I dont need to continue to tweak/tune etc... any real high price tag.

The most I have in ANY gun (other than the AR's) is about $750.00 each tax included for 2 consecutive serial number, unfired Kimber Custom Series I 1911's. They are my resident safe queens.

right about 2900 into a 400 dollar gun, took a savage 11 in .308win and added leupold mark 4 tactical in 6.5x20, McMillan A5 tactical stock with all the extras (saved some money on that one with a military discount) badger ordanance rings and base, and a Hart barrel. still considering putting a new trigger on it as well which would add about another 100 to the total.

it would definetly have to be my ar though i got a really great deal on almost all the stuff it still has the most in it of my collection, i would say about 1300 dollars worth.

My most expensive gun so far has been $1725 for a gun that I'm still waiting on to take posession of. Hopefully sometime next month.

Other than that, the most expensive "upgrades" I've ever done was holsters and grips (stocks) for handguns.

I've got 4 BPCRs (well 3, because one is a Low-Wall .22) that all came in around $4500 each before sights. Add around $650-700 for MVA' front and rears and the cost comes to about $5200 each.

I may not be built for this firearms hobby. All I've done so far is refinish a few stocks on cheap guns in the sub$100 range. At this point in time, expenditures into the 1000s go into the home.

Beyond that, new rifles with scope addition, not any project there.

Most I spent was $600 for an UZI Model B. That alone might tell you how long ago that was. I got rid of it not too much later, at a substantial profit. Worst jamming POS I ever owned, with the exception of the TEC-22.:cuss:

I've gotten off cheap...........

More than 1400, but less than 1500. I do have a couple of rifles I purchased used that would have cost much more if I had to duplicate them today. Essex

Thanks for the kind words, wooderson. They may look simple, but the work is there in the details . . . for those who know what to look for. All the handfitting, the extensive handfitting  = $$$, and attention to detail is what makes those pistols worth their value.

That, and um . . . I don't know many places a fellow can go buy a 9x23 in an alloy Commander frame. Its essentially a build proposition only. I absolutely love it. Nothing fits my hand better, even the .45 sitting right next to it that I blended and built essentially with my own hands (and Jim's gentle guidance when mine weren't up to the task). I can tell them apart by holding them in pitch black with my eyes closed. I've just become that attuned to what makes them what they are, and the quality one gets when we go full custom, personally built to suit.

Next on my list is . . . of course  . . . another 1911. It truly is a sickness. I have heard the siren's call of an alloy Officer frame 9x23 with a Commander slide, and I want my own, too.

Around $400 of additions to this one, (which is equal to what I paid for the gun in the first place), but I am VERY happy with it, and feel it was well worth the money, and I enjoyed it.

$430 into a Romanian M44 Mosin-Nagant

Leupold 2.5x28mm Scout Scope - $250
S&K Scope Mount and Rings - $90
ATI Synthetic Monte Carlo Stock - $60
Sling Swivels and Strap - $30

Please excuse the picture, the flash on my cheap digital camera made the barrel look all rusted from the reflection of the red walls in the background. Except for the spot in the bayonet lug - I had just taken the bayonet off before getting the scope mounted and didn't notice it untill uploading the picture, its gone now though:

$500 to buy, $800 at the 'smith.

I bought a Springfield G.I. for $500 then sent it to a gunsmith (waiting for it to find it's way home) for $800 worth of work. All internals replaced with tool steel, checkered MSH and frontstrap, beveled mag well, YoBo retro rear sight, Millet flourescent front sight, refinish.

When I first saw the title I was about to answer "+P+." :p

As far as just add-ons, I guess it would be $400 or so on my Mini-14.

The most expensive overall would still be my AR, though I've only spent about $70 in add ons so far. (Gimme a break, I just got it. :D)

$4700.00'ish total invested in my State Arms Big Bertha .50 bmg. Base gun included @ $3800.00

Um... If my wife sees this it was about $200.00 dollars. Honest honey!
