Now for my 7.62x39 rifle to come in!

Yeah, can't go wrong with any of those three. I have the Howa in 7.62x39 and a CZ527 American in .223. Likely to add a Ruger at some point, but it will be a Predator, not a Ranch, for the longer barrel length.

Best of luck in your search.

Edit to add: just realized based on your comment that CZ appears to have discontinued most of the 527 based rifles. Wow, what a loss. Also, what rock have I been under that I didn't know that...

I was after a CZ 527 carbine. But they stopped production. Now i have my wishes for a Howa Mini hunter. With walnut furniture. I would consider a Ruger American too if it came with a walnut stock. I'll sell the cheap scope they provide probably.

I hadn't seen those, that is one fine looking little rifle. I think I will pick one of those up for my kiddo's.

Love my cz carbine, the 2-7 leupold goes well on it but it's just as good using just the sights. I'm hoping a mini will come out by some manufactur to replace the cz527 the cz 600 trail msrp is double it should be.

Looks like a good time, what are you getting? Judging from the scope choice I figure it is a bolt action. It is a great round in a little bolt action, I wouldn't part with my Howa Mini. It likes to throw cheap steel case ammo into small enough groups that I have never even bothered ordering a set of dies.
I was impressed with my first AR chambered in 762x39! Shot cheap steel cased ammo to 1-1.5 MOA :)

It took trying 3 barrels to find a really good one but my AR is also very accurate with steel case. Mine likes Wolf 124 hollow points the best and shoots sub moa with them. I feel like the Russian steel case ammo in an accurate rifle is one of the hidden gems of the shooting world. People turn there nose up at it and call it commie junk ammo. Can’t count how many times I’ve heard people say 7.62x39 is just inherently inaccurate. Couldn’t tell my rifle that.

The home build I bought had a Bear Creek bbl, and my RRA LAR47 shot lights out:)

I have a pair. The first is a Ruger American Ranch. I installed an EGW Scope Base, and a Leupold 2.5X Compact Scope on it. I also installed an AR30 Flash Suppressor, and did a trigger job on it. It is my Side By Side and Jeep Rifle. I did my accuracy work up with a 20X Super Sniper Scope on it. It will shoot way better than it should. A better plan might be to install a PIG instead of a Flash Suppressor to direct the noise forward. It is pretty loud without hearing protection.

Number two is a Howa 1500 Mini Action. Again an EGW Scope Base, this time with a Weaver 30mm Classic Extreme 2.5-10X Scope. I did a little trigger adjustment on this one also. This one is the wife's new Deer Rifle. She bagged a 4 point opening morning (13 Nov 2021) with it. The Howa has one issue that I will mention. The magazine release is a paddle style located in front of the magazine. This location makes the magazine release very easy to accidentally push, and dump the magazine. Something to be aware of.

I am reloading my ammunition using Speer .308, 130 gr. Varmint HP Bullets, Shooters World Blackout Powder, and Federal Magnum Match Primers. I have a bag of Lapua brass, but currently I am still reloading some RK brass that seems to be fairly high quality. This combination is working well at just under 2600 fps from the Ruger. So far I have not chrono graphed the Howa. I have gotten groups under .4 out of both rifles so don't worry about the need for .312 bullets to get one to shoot. Both of these shoot .308 bullets just fine.

They stopped production??? I wonder why? It has to be a good selling rifle.........

Yeah, pretty inconceivable how the rifle that everyone praised for having classic steel and walnut construction with quality machine work went to whatever you call that...

Howa seems to be the only one left that makes a true mini action. I really like mine, and can echo what viper 225 reports. If you can find one with the wood stock that is even better, or Boyds makes a stock for them. I shaved the mag release down on mine so it is hard to hit accidentally but still easy to push when I intend to. There are also some nice blind magazine conversions for them that I would like to investigate at some point to eliminate the problem completely and make the bottom of the stock smooth for easier carry.

I suspect its because so few of the people that sang its praises from the mountain tops actually opened their wallet and bought one.
