I have noticed that Canik Pistol prices have started to go up the last year. I like to buy at mom and pop places but that's not always available. So I bought a new Canik at the place offering the cheapest price which was Academy Sports. It was $379 for a TP9SF. I liked it so much that I wanted to get a second for a back-up. In 2 months it went up $20 to $399. I know that online places are cheaper but I like to see my pistol in person before I buy it. The main thing I am getting at is this : I hope that the Canik TP9 series doesn't go the route of the HS2000 where they were $250 then when Springfield bought them and rebadged them , they went up to $450 and higher.

I was surprised when I saw the Sarsilmaz SAR9 for $220.00 after rebate.
my brother bought a 1911 from those shops. He ran 200 rd without a hiccup

I have fantasy guns and redo retros I really want, but 2020 taught me to buy in volume before the prices goes up… Example Canik! $250 2018 - $475 2022

Good thing I locked in my gas price for the next two years. I live in a second floor apartment and the only time my heat comes on is when it's under 20 degrees and even then not too often. I have zero gas use 8-9 months out of the year.

you must be freezing! 20 is COLD

Inflation is a factor, but Caniks have exponentially been gaining popularity over the last couple years. Expect the prices to go up more.

Yeah no kidding. A pack of Oscar Myer bacon for $10!! Natural gas bills are almost double last year too.
I stop buying bacon and meat from costco. Until in thr last month, prices when back down to $19/4# was as high as $27/4#

meat is still $15/1# New York

meantime Kroger is $7-$9 for the same

back to guns, I’m not paying $450 for a Canik, $100 and you get a Glock

Why Glock? The Canik is a Walther clone. Grip alone on the Glock is totally different. If one really likes the fit of the Canik but is concerned about quality ( don't understand that since the Turkish firearm build quality is state of the art ) then go for the Walther.

Glock is like comfort food, nothing fancy, nothing Friday night, just feels comforting

You can tell I’m not a fan of Striker guns

I thought they were more of a CZ clone?

20°F or 20°C? The latter is pretty comfortable. ;)

Up until a few years ago, their primary line of products were the Canik 55 series of pistols, which are/were basically clones of the CZ 75 in full-size and compact variants.

The first Canik TP9 to hit American shores was quickly recognized for what it more or less was: a clone of the Walther P99
The specs weren't completely identical, but the features more or less were. Striker-fired operation, with a decoking button atop the slide that put the pistol in double-action mode. A single-action version followed soon after, with the decocker functioning as a striker deactivator. Picatinny rail for accessories, and a similar palmswell and changeable backstraps, striker indicator, and 18+1
