I was at my LGS and looking at something else entirely. But there was a 380ez 2.0 for 340 marked down from 540. It’s NIB but it’s been there too long. I am a frequent flyer there. So I asked if they had wiggle room. I got it for 300 plus tax. I hope they sorted the reliability issues. My wife has grip strength issues. She doesn’t know it yet but her Bersa is getting an upgrade. It’s not home yet or I’d post a picture. Payments for now.

A friend of mine bought the 9mm model for this wife . He bought her over to my house to shoot recently . One thing that I noticed was you had to grip it up high ( like you should ) for it to fire . All 3 of us had to re-grip it during shooting it . I don’t like that in a stressful situation .

I've got a 380, and a 9mm PC. I like them. The 9mm has been flawless, but the 380 had done the "stovepipe a live round" trick a couple of times. That's when the last round in the magazine get's stovepiped for some reason. Many seem to suspect it's because the plastic magazine follower is too slick and it allows the round to just sort of "pop-up." A "cure" for the problems seems to be to rough up the mag follower a bit with sandpaper or such. I used the blade of my pocketknife because that's what I had with me, and it seems to have helped. It's not a gun I shoot a lot though.

I will look into that if hers acts like that thank you

I bought one for my wife about a year and a half ago. It would on occasion feed the last round all the way through the pistol without even chambering it or stovepipe. I sent it back to S&W. They sent it back saying they had polished the barrel. I ran 100 rounds of inexpensive ammunition through it 2 rounds at a time & got a couple more of the same issue. So I called S&W back & got them to send me new magazine springs. I then cut a section out of the old magazine spring & nested it in the new ones & it worked. Since then a member at the S&W forum posted that they had ordered replacement springs for an LCP & clipped some coils off & modified it a touch so it would work with the base plate & follower & they had no more problems. I did the same thing they did. Here is a link to a thread I started about my issues there. Thinking About Calling S&W-380EZ (smith-wessonforum.com)

Edited to add: I hope you don't have any issues.

From what I have read there most people don't seem to have these issues. Hopefully you wont. I just thought I would try to give you the information I have & share my experience.

Here was my experience with a 380EZ that I bought for my wife. Five different shooters, three different mags and three trips to the factory...same problem. After after the 3rd trip S&W decided that they couldn't fix it and replaced the gun with an M&P 2.0 9mm.

In this present time I think the OP got a great deal on that gun. I've had an EZ in 380acp since June of 2021. I'm very happy with the gun and it runs factory and my reloads without a problem. I like the size and it fits my hand very well. The design of the magazines make them easy to load. I went in three weeks ago and bought the EZ in 9mm. My first range trip I ran a half box of the IMI 115 grain hollow points and half a box of my reloads without a problem. I should explain my three kids give me Cabela`s gift cards for Christmas and my birthday so they have pretty much bought both of these guns.

Agreed, S&W was great to deal with. My wife loved shooting the gun, it was just too unreliable to carry for serious purposes. She went back to her S&W M12 Snubbie and I kept the M&P9.

I think ours is ironed out. The whole experience left me annoyed with S&W. I'm not saying I wont buy another gun from them but I will probably do better research first.

I really like my M&P 2.0 40 Compact I bought a few years ago though. It is a good solid gun.

In my opinion, the upside down grip safety is a poor design and too much care must be taken to grip the gun properly for it to fire.

I just want to take a second to thank all of you for your posts. I am glad I am acquiring the 2.0 so hopefully I will miss 1.0 errors. So far it seems they are really the only ones trying to fill a niche in the market that exists. The size is more in the middle my only complaint in research is there is no higher capacity version yet. But I assume it’s single stack to reduce grip size.

My wife has two EZ9s. One is for carry, and the other is for training and practice. Both have been completely reliable.

She's a brand-new handgun shooter, and hasn't had any problems with the grip safety. But she has only used them for one four-day defensive handgun class and some practice (maybe 1300 rounds total) so the jury is still out.

There was never an M1.0 version of the EZ. M2.0 refers to the broader M&P family of pistols, as described by S&W's introductory news release about the EZ.
Built for personal and home protection, the new M&P380 Shield EZ pistol is the latest addition to the M&P M2.0™ family and features an 8+1 round capacity and a 3.675” barrel
