Hello... I finally was able to shoot my new M and P 15 today. Loved it. I have a Holosun 510c on it. I was surprised it was darn near dialed in out of the box. Only bad thing was 100 rounds=$50. Oh well... 2 hours at the conservation department range was only $4. So much fun. The other problem is now I want to build one. Money, money, money ...

Just modify that one. You'll end up with enough parts to justify building one after a while.

Thanks, yous guys. I just finished cleaning it. First time I took the bolt carrier apart. I kind of inherited the rifle from a family member. It was fairly dirty. I'm scared I didn't put it back together correctly. I followed directions and it functions fine. I'm just worried if I didn't put it back together right, it might blow up on me or something. Everything is functioning just like it did before I went shooting today, so I guess I'm good. Anything I need to check for before I go to the range tomorrow?

Perform a function check after any reassembly-

Cant think of anything you can do (short of leaving the bore obstructed with a big wad of patches or somesuch) that would cause an actual catastrophic failure. If the hammer is removed, its easy to install the hammer spring upside down, but this will just cause light primer hits and misfires.

If the gun was homebuilt, it's probably a good idea to check the barrel and buffer tube nuts for loosening- the buffer tube nut should be staked in place as well.

ARs are actually pretty tolerant of grime buildup, but they DO like to run wet. I liberally grease my buffer spring and use light oil generously on the bolt and carrier.

I can't even keep spare parts in the same drawer let alone the same too box or they reproduce into full AR's :D

If the Supreme Court actually does roll back on Roe v. Wade, you won't be able to stop them! He'll have to buy more safes to keep them in soon, but even then he'll end up with so many he'll have to adopt them out to new families!
