I still don't get why we don't allow Teachers to carry, and have a few designated or trained teachers in every school, or whatever employee you want to call it, in charge directly for the schools security. Seems like this should have happened 10 or 20 years ago.

So this lady is somewhat exceptional as a ccw, but it happens. She had no law enforcement background, but nothing else was said of her other than she was legally carrying and shot well. She took a pistol to a rifle fight and was victorious.

Can't believe it was a party and nobody has video of part or any of the event. Am also surprised the gunman didn't shoot anybody despite reportedly having fired into the crowd.

Not really relevant to this event, but Texas does allow teachers to carry if the district or school allows it and there is an associated training program to go with that. Right now, about 1/3 of Texas public school districts allow teachers to carry. Uvalde did not, but they did have an SRO.

In reality, as with the rest of the population, many who can, don't or won't. This was an interesting reaction to what some officials were saying. Many teachers don't want to be expected to be impromptu gunfighters. They don't want guns in the classroom.

Whether it is a graduation after party event as with the OP or other circumstances, I know far too many gun owners who don't carry on any sort of regular basis, even if they have their LTCs (which are not even required now). That is reality.

I only found this on a “conspiracy” site and in all fairness, it might not have turned into a mass shooting. But there was 30 to 40 people being shot at when a person with a handgun stopped the threat. I’m not advocating we all start confronting bad guys but I am glad this ended like it did.

I just told my anti-gun partner about this and she said it's about time someone shot back. Maybe the antis are starting to get smart.

People do change. My wife's attitude has evolved in the 26 years we've been married.

She once rolled her eyes at me for wearing my CCW in the house many years ago.

"Tell me something...where do 100% of all home invasions happen?"

"I guess you've got a point."

Working in a trauma center for 38 years , there is a lot of stuff the media does not make public, especially if it does not meet their narrative .

There is a lot of stuff that just isn't that news worthy. A big part of their "narrative" is making a profit. This is really a local story. The only person injured or dead is the gunman. There isn't any video. We don't know who the hero is as that information isn't being released. So there is no personal story of the hero to retell. There is no hero perspective. There was no manifesto. The gunman wasn't livestreaming. There weren't any physical victims and so no stories about how Johnny just graduated and had his whole life ahead of him before being killed by a madman who was subsequently taken out by (list of descriptors) hero. There are no reports from the local hospitals. There was no call for blood. The local, state, and federal government aren't being involved. It wasn't a mass shooting - could have turned into one which would have made huge headlines, but that didn't happen. There is nothing but a short list of facts that has been carried by a lot of local outlets (most east coast), a few national, and a few international.

In short, this is a dead end story and not much of one they can work with.

It is legal in Texas…. If the local school board adopts the policy.

discussion today from other liberal. Didn't like my answer that we should have armed guards in schools.
"I don't want to have to tell my kids why there are police in the school."
My comment " I'd rather explain that then not see them come home from school". Shut them right up.

Same here in Missouri. Here on can legally cary inside. public school with a valid CCW permit as long as they have permission from the school board. Good luck getting permission though.

We don't need a CCW in Arizona but with it I don't have to get a background check every time I buy a gun.

With CCW you have to make sure your pistol does not produce a print on your body while a non CCW owner can conceal however they want.

Maybe things are finally changing for the better, and journalists are remembering to report the news, not the narrative.

Say, wasn't he in violation of the 1000 foot law for schools?

Background checks et cetera notwithstanding, how come the MSM didn't report that violation?

Lotsa good that law did, no?

Maybe we should make it 10,000 feet... right?

That should solve the problem ! :fire:

I only need them to be a wee bit smarter in Nov. , at the ballot box

Well, I don't want to have XYZ in school either , but there is. All types of weirdo do stuff, it's all normal kiddies. And don't tell the parents.

Until we are all content with each other's ''I don't want that in school'' list, ARM THEM
