.22LR cheaper at WalMart than anything on AmmoSeek

Walmart has a different business model than everyone trying to keep prices as high as possible.

They make money by selling large quantities at smaller profit margins. Not selling a few items at the largest possible profit one can make before people just quit purchasing from them all together.

Think of them as the opposite of Cheaper Than Dirt.

If Federal works for you Wal-Mart is the place to go. They also have Winchester and CCI at reasonable prices. No centerfire handgun ammunition anymore and Rifle ammunition is hit and miss.

Walmart is less on all ammo….it doesn’t necessarily make it worth going there though.

That said, I do go there for auto maintenance items and usually peruse the ammo while there.

I usually buy 30-30 and shotgun shells there but I saw some Winchester 308 copper somethings for 30.99. Saw the same ones at Bass Pro later in the week for 44.99. Yowza.

I'll buy 22 there occasionally, but I rarely am shopping specifically for 22. When they decided to stop selling handgun ammo as well as 5.56/.223, they lost about 90% of what I'd buy there. I'd usually go specifically for those and grab a box of 22 while I was at it. Anymore, .243 is about the only caliber I'm specifically looking for, maybe .308 but don't shoot that much so haven't bought it in awhile.

When I go to Walmart I look at the ammo shelf. If that Federal 22 is available I usually buy 2 boxes.

If 30-30 is available I buy 2 boxes of that, and 1 of the Federal 22.

Walmart near me used to carry a small selection of reloading supplies, and even had a press or two on the shelf. That went away several years ago.

The cheapest on AmmoSeek right now is 7.4 cents a round.
AmmoSeek cost per round is excluding any applicable shipping, tax and discounts so "final" cost could be higher.

Actually, the lowest cost per round I found is from Brownells:

.22LR cheaper at Walmart ... Plus you don’t have to pay for shipping.
22LR Walmart pricing varies depending on location and you still have to pay sales tax and gas to make the round trip.

So if we use $21.16/325, 7% sales tax rate and $10 in gas to make the roundtrip, 10 box purchases will come out to:
$211.60 + $14.81 + $10 = $36.37/500.

And based on my 40,000+ round testing, some 22LR rifles are ammunition selective and even the loose bulk Aguila 38 gr CPHP at $36.99/500 shipped may produce smaller groups than Federal AutoMatch 40 gr LRN (I actually bought some new lots of Federal AutoMatch along with other 22LR ammunition so I will be conducting new/old 50/100 yard comparison tests soon and will post on "22LR lowest cost shipped" thread so stay tuned - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...t-shipped-pricing.902560/page-5#post-12319367

This works out to a little over 6.5 cents a round, prior to sales tax, at WalMart today.

at a couple of walmarts i was lucky to find several 500 round bricks of cci standard velocity over the past month for the nice price of $27. these cci sv ran great in a ruger sr22 semiauto pistol and lcr 22lr dao revolver. then the cci sv was out of stock so i tried a 325 round box of these federal automatch. what a misnomer, almost half of the federals were ftf, fte in the sr22, but of course worked fine in the lcr 22lr. unless you are shooting a revolver, i suggest avoiding these federals.

it has been at that price in WM for a long time. i buy practically all my 22 lr in WM. mainly federal and some cci sv. i wish they stocked Aguila as i would like to try it. i did buy 500 rds of armscor 22 in my lgs at $40 within the last few months. i stopped looking for it for the past 3 months knowing it is available is enough.

Some of have to head to that area any way, So i take the gas out of the price per round. No other place online can get me 7 cents a round in my hand, no shipping Either. Local shop or online places can not come to close to that. It cost me $136.52 to get 1,950 rounds. I get 3 boxes everyweek. 6 if the wife comes with me.

Ay brownells, for 2000 rounds is $189.96 shipped. thats 9 cents a round. AND i have to wait, The walmart near me is right next to the place we god food shopping and near the shopping center my wife goes. So there is not added trip for me.

Nice if you can combine shopping for groceries too.

Removing gas cost but keeping 7% sales tax brings cost of AutoMatch down to 6.96 cents a round or $34.83/500.

We have 5.5%. Not much lower then yours. Saving gas helps. I would not make a special trip for it. so that saves alot. Specially at 5 bucks a gallon.

You are fortunate that your Walmart has any 22LR. :)

Yes i am, Been that way for about 6 months now. I try to keep at least 30 boxes on hand. I have about 50 currently. The wife is glad she does not have to help me get any. Its a 3 box limit. So that helps ration it a little. With what i have now. It should last me at least 5 years.

Wal-Mart wants to virtue signal and not sell handgun ammo; I'll not buy any ammo from them, even if it cost me more. Principle.
all Corporation will sell out to the Mob. I’m definitely going to buy Walmarts cheap ammo. I think we are to a point that you need to get yours and cheap and bulk.

Crazy times coming Folks, Stock up
