I've been keeping an eye open for one of these and have yet to see one for sale, including on Buds. I'm in the deep South.

I've tried GunBroker in the past and prefer to avoid them.

Is this pistol actually in production? If so it seems harder to buy than a new GMC Sierra!

Thanks,

I have one. Serial number in the 6800 range. I had to replace the extractor after 150 rounds with a FN part because it would do this on every single mag. The extractor channel is poorly finished and the extractor drags on the channel. I believe that is because they cut the slide serrations after the channel and did not deburr it properly. I have not shot it enough to declare it fixed yet.

Overall it is an OK gun. Not a nice as an FN Browning but it has some nice features. The sights and thumb safety are nice upgrades. The finish is utilitarian but decently applied. The grips are cheap and not finished well. If the gun ran out of the box I would be ok with what I paid for it which was under MSRP but as it sits I am a bit disappointed. SA changes the extractor design around serial number 7000 is what a customer service rep told me. I am debating if I am going to keep it.

A local shop posted one earlier this week for $899. I've seen a number posts where people find them for MSRP on forums but I think you have to hunt for that, get lucky or have a good connection with your local shop.

I have had alert notices set on various sites since the SA-35 was released and the only one I received a response from was grabAgun. However, by the time I went to there, they were already sold out. I am not going to pay an inflated price for one and will continue waiting...

At this point, I'd just wait for the release of the new FN High Power coming next year.

I've yet to see one in the wild.

I hope they work out the gremlins and offer a stainless finish. I asked them directly but they smacked me down.

I saw only 1 in a 50 square mile radius of my house. They wanted $875 so I passed.

This store is very big and has tons of guns in stock but they tell me Springfield halted production because of a problem in the design. I don't know if that's true or not but there are none out there... The have 20 ordered but not taking backorders from anyone.

I've always wanted a BPH but never enough to pay the price for one at the time. I'm very interested in the Springfield SA-35, mostly due to its original MSRP. Can't find them around here but if and when I do, I won't be paying more for than when they were first advertised ($699.99?) as costing.

From what I understand at SA's MSRP a dealer can sell these at $650 and make "normal" margin. Do not over pay. Eventually they will drop to that level. The EAA Girsan was much faster to drop to a proper price. It is available in multiple locations for under $500. It is by most reports a more reliable clone. I am not a huge fan of the sights, the thumb safety or the safety billboard but at least they seem to extractor rounds properly.

The New FN is out already and it is not really a BHP.
Yeah I got my hands on one locally and while it's a cool gun with a nice trigger pull, it's no Hi-Power. They should really have named it something else. It's bigger in every dimension, significantly heavier too. The aesthetics are similar at a glance, that and the fact it's a single action only double stack all-steel 9mm pistol are what it has in common with the original.

The Girsan MC P35 is an extremely good FN Mark III HP clone, accepts the same sights and exchanges almost every other part with it freely. And it's more readily available than the SA-35. And it's cheaper too, as mentioned earlier street price is hovering at or below $500.

I have not seen one locally.

Did get to see the new hi power at NRA show. Felt pretty good in hand, trigger was very unimpressive. Hopefully it can be cleaned up. They should have called it the HP2, or the Higher Power. Or even better, make a tricked out race gun and call it the Super Power.

I've had two SA-35s, found em both locally. The first one went on consignment to fund another Staccato, didn't really miss it, but got the second one a few months later, both $650. Just never got used to it. I gave the second one a better chance, but the long and faint reset wasn't my thing and my 226 SAO shot circles around it. I let it go as well. I don't think SA cranks many of them out, they don't really build anything in massive quantities. I think they ship more to their direct dealers than distribution, so that might be a factor as well.

My LGS got one in a few months ago.I had been looking on Gunbroker for them, but wasn't about to spend a thousand plus dollars for one.The day the local store got one just happened to be a Friday, and I always stop in there on Friday if I've had a good week at work and have a little extra money. On that particular Friday,I'd done a job that paid $700 cash and I had it in my pocket. When I saw the SA-35 in the display case I told the store owner to grab a form and let me see that Springfield. It was priced $699.00,so I got change back, lol. It hat been in the display case for less than an hour, and they haven't been able to get another one.
From the looks of it,the FN version is bigger with a little more capacity but there's not a lot in common with the original Hi-Power.The HP magazines, etc. will work in the SA-35,but not the FN.I have been plenty happy with the SA-35 with the possible exception of the trigger. It's a little crunchy, but the gun runs very good.I'm getting close to 500 rounds without any malfunction of any kind.

Got a SA-35 at a local shop; serial number in the 4000s. It has run well for me; the trigger is much better than most other HiPowers, which are inexplicably heavy. (The mechanism really isn't that complicated.)
The trigger generally breaks clean, with an occasional creep.
I've had one failure to extract early on; been okay since.
The finish is a utilitarian matte black, with no tool marks. The machine work, inside and out, is flawless.
The grips are nicely fit and checkered, with a matte finish.
It reminds me very much of a TISAS 1911 I've got, in terms of fit and finish.
Also handled a TISAS Hi Power, which had a heavier trigger, plastic grips, and Cerakote looking finish, with a lot of cast in directions.
Which brings me to another point; the SA is reputedly a Turk as well, with the final finish done here.

I've seen ONE at a gun show in South Texas. Priced at MSRP. He said his distributor made him buy 10 other Springfield products (Saint AR rifles and Pistols) to be able to buy the SA-35

I am now 5 weeks out on a warranty claim. It is really starting to piss me off. They quoted 2-4 when I sent it in. If it was going going to be 6 they could have said that up front. I am guessing they don't have the parts needed to correct the issues. If you are in the market for a BHP clone buy a Girsan.
