350 legend for deer hunting

I poked around a little and couldn't find one available. I sent Henry a email earlier today. I'll follow up with a phone call tomorrow.
I'll also call a few dealers and see if they have one available to order.
Midway has a sale on scopes. I want to order a Leopold with the fire dot in the center of the cross hairs.
Probably a 2x7 or a 3x9.

Ruger also builds the Gunsight Scout in .350 legend it uses the M77 Hawkeye style bolt , it's not cheap thought and kinda hard to find but it sure looks good

I just checked out the ruger, double what I want to pay. Probably will end up with the henry single shot. I'll probably orderthe scopeforwhat ever I buy this week.

I haven't been sleeping well since my surgery so middle of the night I looked for a 350 legend rifle.
I found the Winchesters, Franchi, Mossbergs, Savage, Ruger and the CVA.

I have a bunch of deer hunting rifle back East that stay back there. Remington 788 in 243, Browning 30/05 BAR, Ruger 77 in 25/06,
Marlin 335 in 30/30, and a few more.
Three years ago I bought a H&R single-shot Handi-Rifle with two barrels. A 243 and a 308 barrel.
Put Leopold 3x9 scopes on them and got them zeroed in.
I started useing the 243 Handi-Rifle and loved hunting with that single-shot rifle.
Talking with a few friends that use the 350 legend round they love that caliber for deer hunting out to 200 yards.
Most of my shots are under 100 yards. So I pretty much think I want this caliber in a single-shot rifle. There are several CVA rifles available but the quality might not be the best compared to the Henry single-shot rifle.

Once I talk with the Henry people and see if they will be producing and more I'll make a decision on what to get.

Good luck finding your new 350Legend hunting rifle. I will say that in many of the Walmart stores I go to in my travels have 350Legend ammo.

Enjoy your new rifle!

I really want the Henry 350 legend rifle but it doesn't look like that will be happening anytime soon.i talked with the people at Henry and they are having trouble buying product to make rifles.

So it will most likely be a bolt action.
When I go back to New York in October I'll pick up five boxes of 350 legend ammo from a wally world so I can have the brass and I'll probably buy a die set next week.
I just bought my small game/ big game Pennsylvania hunting license yesterday and on the 1st of August the New York hunting licenses go on sale.

I think I'll be going with the CVA single-shot this year. I think the stainless model has a threaded barrel and the blued model has a regular barrel.

I will haveextra gun money in August still order one as soon as the funds become available.

Well I have the extra funds to buy my 350 legend single shot rifle .it comes down to a CVA or a Traditions.
Cost wise there is only $50 difference between them. The Traditions being $50 more.

I was going to buy a luminated Vortex scope for it but my brother in-law gave me a Nikon Prostaff 2.5 to 10 power scope yesterday so I'm set on a scope.

Between my brother and myself we have plenty of deer tags for New York State and Pennsylvania.
My brother will have seven New York deer tags, I will have five New York deer tags.
Pennsylvania we both have three tags apiece.

I have an American Ranch in 300 blackout really nice gun I put a Boyd stock on it. Have an AR in 350 Legend really like the round, the ballistics are familiar 150gr at 2400 or 170 @ 2200, 30/30 has been filling freezers with those numbers for over a century.

What grain of bullets are you useing?
I will be getting a box of 150 grain and a box of 180 grain and see what works the best.
Looking forward to the upcoming deer season.
I've harvested a bunch of deer
with my H&R 243 Handi-Rifle.

I ended up buying a Traditions single-shot 350 legend. My brother-in-law gave me a Nikon Prostaff 2.5 x 10 scope. I picked up a box of target ammo, a box of 250 grain and a box of 280 grain hunting ammo.

Picked up the scope base with the rings.
It should make a nice deer gun.

Is that a prostaff 5, I almost bought one a few years ago iirc real clear glass too bad nikon bit all of their rifle scope customers in the behind.

Not sure what number it is, my brother in-law gave it to me when he bought a better scope for his 7mm mag.
It seams to be a nice scope.
I just have to see what it likes for bullet - powder combination and pick up a case and a sling for it.
I'll be back in New York on the 18th.

In the FWIW category, I’ve deer hunted for about 55 years. One thing I figured out too late is that the scope is just as or more important than the rifle. It’s no big trick to get a rifle that has more than adequate accuracy

Long ago I lost a chance at what would have been the state record deer because my scope was fogged solid. Watched him for over an hour. Couldn’t shoot.

Just like in the old days, good optics cost more then the gun.
If you can not put the bullet where it counts you might as well stay home and watch Television or listen to your old lady whine.
I enjoy the hell out of going back to Upstate New York for hunting, trapping and drinking beer.
It is my get away and I love everything about it. Six weeks of total enjoyment. This year I spent quite a bit in equipment to hunt & trap . But buy once and cry once. It's only money, I can make more and what I have will be pasted down to the kids to enjoy.
Last year we started a little trapping n this year we expanded it alot, bought more equipment and will focus more on it.
A pair of coyotes with pups will kill over twenty deer fawns a year to feed their pups.
In Kansas they put a trail cam on a coyote den. That pair of coyotes killed 45 deer fawns to feed their pups. So not that's parked my interest in pursuing them and other predators.

To stay on the 350 legend thread, I like the 223 round, with the heavier bullets it should be a hell of a deer round at the distances I generally shoot deer at.
I like to keep it under 100 yards so it will be mare then adequate for a clean one shot kill.

I bought a CVA Cascade 350 last year. I could not be happier with it. Shoots much better than I do. A sample of one doe indicates it is a great deer round. It will be my main rifle this year as well.

Does ano one know the torque for the scope base on these tradition rifles?
I just looked up traditions customer service number and they are closed Thursday- Friday - Saturday and Sunday. They don't open back up until Monday morning at 7;30am eastern time.

Well the 350 legend is sighted in for 100 yards. The 150 grain bullets are bullseye.
The 180 grain bullets drop three inches at a hundred yards.
I will see what each one does on the deer then decide which one I want to use. I'll buy dies and bullets once I see what I want use.

Judging from some scopes I've taken off used rifles, the torque spec. is: "turn them as hard as you can, until you are totally buggering up the screw heads, then bear down on it even more until you can get it to move another 180 degrees." Hope that helps. Don't get me started on steel bolts and aluminum threads on bicycles and motorcycles. The torque spec. on those is: "Tighten until the aluminum threads begin to strip".

I've went last weekend in my Corral boots( https://gritroutdoors.com/corral/ my everyday wear pretty much :D ) with merino wools and it was like the coldest night in last 2 months. So many regrets, gonna switch to some proper winter boots now...
Good optics always were insanely expensive, but upside is you can mount 'em on different rifle at least(never tried Nikon, let us know later how good it is :D ).
Yotes been a huge menace last year, might get more into trapping too. Not only killing fawns, but also a couple of domestic cats(few neighbourds "lost" theirs, but at this point you already know it's coyotes work).
