Bond Arms

@aaaaa I think that you will enjoy your Bond Arms.
I added a video that Jeff Quinn (RIP) from Gunblast put out a few years ago.
I like his comment on shot shells at the 4:00 minute mark.

I have been watching for 410 shells. Seams like they are one of the last ammo runs that the manufacturers are loading.
Yes, that is an interesting comment. Hopefully the perp wears glasses. Really hate to see someone blinded, but if one's life is threatened, what choice. It does seem like a good gun with the .410 shells to ward off carjackers.

He shot some 9mm and it looked like more recoil than the cowboy .45 Colts in the other video.

I was just thinking to get a dedicated (.45 Colt only) barrel, but not sure the accuracy would be that much better. Then I thought of a better option. If I buy a second barrel, they do offer a .44 Special in the 3-inch barrel. That would double my ammo selection and still give me about the same general feel as the .45 Colt.

Found a thread here on the .44 Special Bond Arms barrel.

Review on the Bond .44 Special. At 5:43 they do gel and it looks good at 13.5 inches @ 1047 fps.

Bond Arms .410? A teen girl can run it! Crazy no ear plugs, no safety glasses.
I keep considering the .410 barrel. Given the BA’s are hard to aim unless slow, I figure the .410 could be an effective get off me gun. Also, I want to have the smallest shotgun in existence. I want to tell people about my three shotguns then solemnly pull out my .410 BA at the end.

Watch this. Gordon Bond goes over the best ammo for the .410. Says the shot shells are best for SD and the smaller (.45 Colt sized) shot shells are better for snakes. Gordon has a ton of videos, all very informative.

I asked Gordon about future barrels for the Stinger, like .38 Special and perhaps .32 ACP (for us .32 addicts :)). His reply,

"We will look at expanding the caliber availability once we see just how popular the 380 and 9mm are. Establish market viability. Will probably expand into 22 next before 38Spl or 32ACP."

If they come out with a .32 or .22 stinger, I’m all over that. They don’t make .22 steel BAs anymore, and the barrels I’ve seen auction for $500 on eBay. Old Grouch is waiting to sell me his.

Nice. If I got one I’d probably pursue a standard 00 buck shell for SD. They make a 000 buck .410 shell too.

Here is another answer he gave me (I have been commenting on his videos and he is promptly answering). Regarding use of the .45/.410 vs the dedicated .45 Colt only barrels he says:

"Even with a little more rifling, the difference is negligible if any. You have to stretch out to a 4.25" barrel to really notice anything unless you're an Annie Oakley! But there are videos of guys hitting medium size targets beyond 50yds with the .45ACP with a 2.5" barrel."

So it seems the Rowdy is the best of all worlds. A big caliber bullet and a double barrel shotgun! It also has a 3"inch barrel for only $20 more than the Roughneck with its 2.5" barrel. The more I explore this the more I am glad I ordered the Roughneck.

Guess it is 10% the gun and 90% the shooter. Kind of like when I had a motorcycle (500 Suzuki twin two stroke) and my friend had a 500-four Honda. He was quicker than me, and said if we switched bikes he would still beat me, and he probably was right, but I did not do it as I did not want my bike abused like that.

I was looking on ebay and it appears about all the listings are for the barrels that come with the entry level Roughneck or Rowdy. People must be buying them and then buying the barrel they prefer.

If the fact our biggest distributor is regularly out of stock on two or more of the Stinger models is an indication, I'd say they're quite popular.

Yes, but occasionally they have others. I’ve seen used .22 barrels on there, auctioning at absurd prices.

If you buy a .410 barrel consider a longer one. I think (pls double check) you can run 3-inch shells in the longer ones (4.25 and 6 inch). Maybe even in the 3.5-inch barrel.
From Bond site:

"The 6″ double-barrel is chambered to handle up to 3” .410 shot shells and .45 Colt."

This came up on a search that the MA Snake Slayer with 3.5" barrel says,
"It is chambered to fire .45Colt, 2.5" .410 and 3" .410 rounds."
That one only available in Massachusetts, but you would think other 3.5" .410 barrels would take the 3" shells.

I think I need to get some big sheets of paper or cardboard and do some up close patterns....

Some complain that the Bond Arms Derringer is too large. Well maybe so for a .22, but take advantage of that largeness (really not any bigger than a Beretta Tomcat) and get a big bore. If you are going out with only two shots, make sure they count. .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .410 shot shell, or .44 Special.

Does anyone here suspect that I maybe have Bond Arms Derringer fever? I know I will not be satisfied just to have a Rowdy. Surely I will also need another barrel or two. If I am only interested in large caliber (but for possible .22 at range), I have ordered the .45 Colt/.410 so there only remains .45 ACP and .44 Special on my list.

Good to test out. There are some videos on line.

They are cool. And as far as modern derringers today, they are the brand. It is true that a 2.5 inch BA and likely even a 3 inch are the smallest big bore guns one can get.
