The PX4 Compact's ergos are excellent for my hands, and being a Lefty, I never expect guns to cater to me.

Really liked the DA trigger.
I never notice the SA pulls on handguns because as a DA/SA guy, only the DA pull's (A) smoothness and (B) type of 'stacking' is the "trigger focus". Length of pull, reset etc? These don't matter.

My impression was that the PX4 Compact would be easier to conceal than the Beretta 92 Compact, but I don't know....

I just tried the PX4 compact and full back to back last night. Unfortunately not a ton of rounds through either though. It was really hard to definitively say which one was “better,” they feel very similar. I think that means the compact wins for me simply because it’s a little more practical to carry. I have a Taurus PT99 for the full sized 9mm experience. The PX4 fits my (small) hands noticeably more comfortably than the PT99. Recoil felt about the same. I like the PX4 DA trigger a lot more than the Taurus. SA about equal -good, but not 1911-level good.

Get a Beretta Cougar "D" Spring (12lb) and you will like the PX4 trigger even more than with the standard (14lb) hammer spring. The "D" spring takes several pounds off the DA pull and about a half pound off the SA pull.

I'm not trigger sensitive like many so for me the PX4 is great just the way it is. Total reliability and capacity makes it one of my nightstand guns and it is perfect in that role. For the life of me I can't come up with a reason to mod a gun that has been 100% flawless right out of the box. Adding that cash to the bucket list fund seems to make more sense.

While I would have no hesitation in carrying it as a duty gun (as designed) it wouldn't be my first option as far as concealed carry piece.

This is kind of how I feel. The DA pull is already worlds better than my PPK, my Taurus 92 clone, and honestly it’s lighter than my S&W revolvers too, and they’re seen as something of a gold standard in that regard. I feel like with the stock spring I can be pretty accurate and the gun is definitely safe so I don’t have a strong desire to lighten the pull. On the other hand a D spring is only $5 so it’s hardly an expensive experiment.

I have looked at the PX4 for a long time because I realized I didn’t own a single “modern” high-cap polymer style gun. Then I got the Taurus (the price was right) which scratched that itch for a time, is beautifully made, but has a horrendous DA pull and is almost too big for my hand. And I’m not a big fan of strikers, Glock ergos, or the looks of most modern pistols.

I have gone back and forth as to which size I like the best. I think if I’m just shooting recreationally a full sized makes more sense (but then why not shoot the Taurus or one of my other guns? Maybe one that’s all steel and thus even more comfortable?) But the compact brings that “Glock 19” format, that’s more practical for CCW if I wanted to go down that path. And I’d sure rather carry a 27oz polymer gun than a full sized or all metal design. So I think I’m going to bite on the compact. If the full size shot notably more softly than the compact that would sway me, but I didn’t feel much difference.

If you are interested in a 9x19mm rotating barrel fully ambi pistol with decocker, you can also check the Grand Power P1 D.

+1, the Grand Power is a much better pistol than the PX4, mine shot about 10" low, I sent it back to Beretta, after a $75 fee they told me it was within spec.
