and we'll see about this one

I am very interested in testing out the Sandvik 14C28N. Everyone says it takes a ridiculous edge and I would love to try it out for whittling/carving. There is something very satisfying about a screaming sharp/high polished edge pushing through wood.

I have an old Kershaw Zing in 14c28n . Still hands down one of my favorite knives. The only knife I've ever bothered to take to hair whittling sharp and it polishes up nicely. With the right edge geometry its cuts data cable all day long and touches up easily. Probably better steel than ATS34 but not nearly as durable as D2.

I picked up one of these as a lark with some left over money on a giftcard to try out Sandvik 14C28N:

For the $36 bucks, I've been really impressed with the build quality of the knife itself and I'm really liking the Sandvik steel. It's replaced my spyderco's as my EDC.

It's a Petrified Fish Beluga front flipper handle?? That means it has a rock handle & not only rock it's layered rock, that means a very brittle handle. So it's just for show & will break very easy if it gets dropped. I think I would pass, a knife to me is a work tool.

The company is called Petrified Fish, the scales are made of G10.

It arrived today and I'm impressed with the look and feel of it.

It flips with ease. The handle is comfortable. The gmascus scales are both attractive and have just the right texture. I'm frankly surprised.

I'll have to test cutting this weekend.
Looking forward to your report. People seem to be very impressed with the level of “keenness*” Sandvik steels can reach.

* I just call it really sharp as I’m a hillbilly and a dullard.
