What Do I DO? Volquartsen Barrel Not Going In

Okay. I see what you're saying. I'll have to think on what I want to do.

I put all the OEM parts back in the TC and will just ponder a bit on if I want to just get a new KIDD upper receiver and bolt.

An interference fit is best. That takes heat and cold in the right places and a dead blow hammer can be handy. A very small chamfer on the barrel shank will help.

TC is no more and S&W ain't gonna do anything for you to install an aftermarket barrel. You can polish the receiver or you can polish the barrel. Conventional wisdom dictates it's wiser to modify the barrel. It's also easier to accomplish. By "polish", I don't mean Flitz but with fine grit sandpaper. Preferably wet sanding, starting with 220grit, moving up to 400.

I would not do the heating and freezing method because you may want to remove it at some point. You can also end up cracking the aluminum receiver.

Thanks for the input CraigC. And I would tend to agree about the manufacturer not doing anything.

I still think I'm just gonna get the KIDD receiver and bolt [I have all the other parts already]. I should leave the T/CR22 as it is for my niece to shoot...and not worry about her potentially dinging the wood stock I was gonna put it in. She's not gonna do much to that plastic stock.
