Wondering about some THR member voters

Democrats might want to take away your guys, yeah... but Republicans, they want to take YOU away. And I supposed you'll need those guns when living in a totalitarian Republican police state.

This is the kind of over the top, horse hockey that makes a rational debate so difficult. I am concerned with the possibility that some of the methods being used could be abused by a future administration and maybe this is a good argument against allowing them, even in war time. We can have that debate and not sound like paranoid conspiracy geeks. But I have seen ZERO evidence that this president wants to do anything but fight the war on terror. I know of no instance of any American's rights being abused by this administration.

What I do know, is that in spite of terror attacks in London and Madrid, terror cells uncovered from Germany to Canada to New Jersey, and weekly video taped threats from Al Qaeda, we haven't been hit again, five years after 9/11. If we had, the same Bush haters who scream about the Patriot Act would be calling for his head.

Too bad members of the board have openly stated that despite this being a prime opportunity for advancing the third party cause, they are voting for Dems to "be sure" the Republicans lose.

The Republicans were going to lose anyway if people went to the Libertarians, but the members have a "score" to settle, and to heck with any chance of breaking the cycle they claim to hate.

I think you have the shoe on the wrong foot my friend.

ETxhiker and Bartholomew Roberts sum it up best, IMO

As sick as I am of the Bush operation, I'll take my chances with him.

Here in MN, we will probably replace our irrelevant socialist Senator (Dayton, a real elitest cakeeater) with a nominal traditional-DFL female Senator (Klobuchar, a former PA in Hennepin Co.).

Klobuchar is rational--but when she was PA, she was the most aggressive "gun grabber" in domestic cases we've ever had; it played well to the MC educator-feminists that dominate the DFL.

Now, she may be rational--but she will a National Democrat Senate operation which will assuredly be subject to Randel, Kennedy, etc.--and she will vote for AWBII if the Senate can force it to a floor vote.

Do ANY of us want to face that kind of garbage again? With a weak-kneed Republican operation as well?

Here's hoping the Democrats don't gain in either chamber--I remain a one-issue voter.

Okay, you had a visit. Did they even confiscate the magazines in question?

Got threatened with prosecution under 922v until I dug up old email records where I specifically asked the dealer if the magazines were pre-1994.

Several people on this board DID have merchandise purchased from the same vendor confiscated. Do a search for 'kaehny' and you should be able to find the old threads where other THR members were visited by ATF and had items taken.

Nothing of that sort has happened again after we got rid of the sexual-predator-in-chief and his failed socialist agenda. Even with that 'evil' Patriot Act in place I haven't been threatened with prosecution by federal agents. I'll take Bush over the 'rats any day.

I think you have the shoe on the wrong foot my friend.

Go back through the various threads, and you will posts stating that "3rd parties won't win and I'm voting for the Democrats so the Republicans will lose." Now, if their public comment differed from the poll results, that's not my problem.

I wish some Good Republicans and Good Democrates would jump ship, run on a 3rd party ticket. Then we can at least vote for them and even if a D or R wins, the numbers will show that people vote a third party and are upset with the 2 party system....even though I agree there is little room for a 3rd party with the way the numbers are set up inorder to claim victory at the present time.

Now one of you whiners that parrot the leftwing 'Bush is taking away all my rights' nonsense give an example of how you have personally faced persecution under the Patriot Act. I'll bet none of you drama queens can.

Calling fellow THR members "Whiners" and "drama queens" is pretty much the definition of a personal attack and is against the Forum Rules you agreed to follow when you signed up here.

Please keep the discussion civil.

Three words to remember as you go to the polls today: Speaker Nancy Pelosi

And she would be different than Speaker Dennis Hastert in stopping bills like McCain-Feingold & Medicare Drug Entitlements HOW?.... :scrutiny:

I voted independent and third-party whenever possible this election. If the GOP wants my vote back, they can come back to conservatism and constitutionalism to get it.... :cuss:

I don't need to, I participated in many of those threads, the majority of posts did not convey the agenda that you have posted they did (though a number of people did post in that regard). Most of the posts in those threads went the other way in fact, where many were saying they would vote for Republicans because they're voting against the Dems. However, as I believe in freedom, I hold it as your absolute right to recall things the way you prefer, despite whether your recollection coincides with reality or not. My guess is that you took more notice of those particular posts because they did not toe your line in this matter, which makes them nothing more than a personal collection of opposing highlights; it doesn't make them any more significant than the real numbers allow them to be.
