I suppose I'm one of the people you are talking about so I'll say this. I don't vote a straight party line. Given the current administration's disregard for our rights as American Citizens I don't consider them any better. One of the issue that keeps me from being a republican is the "A" issue. I won't spell it out as it's like a hand grenade, but you know what I mean. Even though I'm a Christian and sometimes attend church, I strongly disapprove of religious organizations becoming involved in politics and the Hard core Christian right and the republican party are to close for my taste.

There are a number of other issues I won't go into, but I will say that in my home state of California. I do not vote for Feinstien or Boxer.

Last two elections my vote was for anyone but Bush, and I feel very vindicated today. No, I have no clue if Gore or Kerry could have done any better, but it's hard to imagine ANYONE doing worse.

In the up coming election I'll have to see who runs.

I admit that my 2A rights are more and more of a concern and have more and more of an affect on my voting lately.

If the Democrats are such great supporters of all of our rights besides RKBA,

Why did they vote for the USA Patriot act, and its extension and renewal?

Why did they vote for the so called Campaign finance reform?

The fact of the matter is that there are very few real conservatives or liberals in our government on either side.

Most of our elected officials are Statist, socialists/ Facists.:barf:
Who believe in larger government, higher taxes, and less individual freedom.

It makes me sick.

some people would call me left leaning.
actually a lot of people here would probably call me left leaning.
I don't like to label myself as a liberal or a libertarian, or a conservative.
I guess if I had to do it I'm some sort of mix of liberal and libertarian.
"liberaltarian" I guess

are good places for left-leaning gun owners.
If you read the gun related diaries at Daily Kos, about half or more are pro-gun.

The above link was started by a guy on Democrat Underground. It didn't get a warm reception. They vote in lock step to Skimmers/DLC's wishes or else no mention of the link at the DUmp.

Taken from that link:

Do you actively oppose Democrats who support sensible gun measures if they run for public office?

We are Democrats, and as such we will support our party's nominees for local, state, and federal office.

You know, the 2A is important, but all of the rights support the others. it's extremely difficult to say one is more imprtant than the other. What good is the right to bear arms without the right of free association?

What good is the 2A when a broad coalition of dems and repubs voted to make it ILLEGAL to discuss a candidate within 60 days an election?

What good is the 2A without Habeus Corpus?

The 2A is the doomsday device. If that button ever gets pushed, the US will basically be identical to Sudan. It's critical that ALL of the rights are defended. If a candidate is a little weak on the second, but his opponent is weak on the rest of the BOR, the first guy gets my vote.

If this country was an airplane, ya'll would be so focused on parachute maitenance, that you'd forget to change the oil.

What we need to do is to take a little walk on the wild side, meet some Democrats, and take them down to the range shooting. Whatever you have to do in exchange, go to Burning Man, eat hummus, whatever you have to do in exchange, it would be worth it. I guarantee if we got more Democrats down to the range, put a weapon in their hands, and showed them how to safely handle a gun, all threats to our rights to keep and bear arms would be gone overnight. The Democratic party would drop gun control like a hot potato.
