Last week I watched a show about a bulletproof vest called snakeskin. The ex-seal was shooting .223, 7.62, "and even 9MM!" at it - none of which fazed it a bit by the way. However I was surprised that the show appeared to give the impression that 9MM is more powerful than .223 and 7.62 ammo - all fired from rifles. What is up with that?
 
I would assume its the misconception that greater bullet diameter (and mass?) equals greater penetration of the target.
