"We can get up to 70 pounds in one box and the shipping is $8.50 plus the insurance."

from mastercast. how much does 1,000 9mm bullets weigh? and why insurance? how much does that cost?

I have been loading Extreme brand plated bullets, 9mm 115 gr and 45acp 230gr from Sportsmans Warehouse $24.00 per 500 for 9mm and $34.00 for 45acp per 500 but they have been out for a month. I've had good results with the total metal jackets and it's nice at the indoor range knowing I am not breathing lead vapors.

cajun47,

There are 7,000 grains in a pound, and if your 9mm bullets weigh 124 grains each, then 1,000 of them will weigh 17.7 pounds. Most bullet companies figure about 19 pounds for 1,000 bullets of that weight, due to the packaging material to hold them in.

Hope this helps.

Wait until you see the new prices.:what:

Not just them. It's everybody.

Looking at the new prices, I wish I was in competition so I could justify a bulk order of 25K or so. Have done that in the past--the UPS guy didn't seem really happy, but my wallet sang.

Wait until you see the new prices.

It's scary! I ordered two boxes of Magnus jacketed HP's from Midsouth for just over $15.00/250. I went back to order some more about three weeks later and they are $21.21 a box. That's going from 60ish to $85.00/1000! I shoulda bought 1000 the first time! :cuss:

Over the years when I get lazy and don't want to cast I purchase from the National Bullet Company http://nationalbullet.com/index.php?name=9mm_Cal_Bullets
I see on their website 9mm 125 are selling for 24.50 for 500 if you get on their e-mail list they sometimes offer specials of free shipping. Really good bullets. Prices are going sky high for alloy that is why you see the price increases. Something you may want to consider is casting.

i also use national bullets. i would recomend them over any other cast bullets. why because how they are made. i currently use the copperized bullets. Copperized bullets is nothing more than cast lead bullets with a sheen cover of copper on them. This cover of copper though will reduce leading of the barrel to almost nothing. Which is a great advantage compared to other lead bullets. Any how i bought a box of 500 for i think 20.00 on ebay unopened that was from national bullets. Best find ever. Just remember you pay for what you get. I found a few guys on the internet that are casting lead bullets and selling the bullets on ebay.

I just drive a few blocks and pick them up at Sierra Bullets itself
Showoff:D
I have got some good deals from https://www.grafs.com/metallic/568 and their shipping is free. I have also looked at http://www.powdervalleyinc.com/powders.shtml and it looks like they have some good deals. I haven't bought from Powder Valley yet but it looks like they have a pretty good deal on Zero bullets. It also looks like they have some good deals on powder and primers if you go in with friends and buy in quantity the hazmat won't be so bad.

Where do you buyyour bullets

I had a friend give me 30 lbs of Sierra 52 gr BTHP that he had taken in for some auto repair work.

Lets see 7000 grains/lb X's 30lbs. = 210000 grains divided by 52 = 4000+ bullets.:what:

Besides the 52's today I tried some of Sierra's 60 grain HP and 65 grain Gameking in my Savage 10FP and CZ 527 Kevlar. Had good results with both of them.

Its nice to be able to go to their outlet store and look at all the goodies firsthand.

Buy bullets. Now why would you ever do something like that?!
Get yourself a casting set up, son.
Buy bullets. (What is this country coming to!:D )
