I Heart Taurus.

I don't "love" any gun. I do have a new Millenium Pro 745, however, and so far (after 300 rounds), I've shot Lancer 230 gr FMJ, Gold Dots, and some Hydra Shocks through it with one jam - a fail to feed. The fail to feed bothers me as I'm used to flawless functioning with all my .45s and 9mms. So, I'll be paying close attention to this. The failure was in a mag full of the Lancer reloads. We'll see.

I've given them three chances, one was good and two sucked. :barf: Done.

I have been packin a PT-145 for a couple of years now. It has over 4000 rounds of both factory and reloaded ammo through it. It has never failed to fire on the first hammer strike. It shoots to point of aim and does it very accurately. It cost me $300.00 new and the dealer even threw in an extra mag. Now tell me how could I not love the aforementioned firearm. It is my 85% bug and 15% primary office carry.

I recently sold my Taurus Model 415 revolver. It was a 2" ported, 5 shot, 41mag. It was very accurate and dependable. I shot over 1500 rounds of hot handloaded 41mag ammo through it and it was as tight when I sold it as when I bought it. The guy I sold it to is carrying it as his primary CCW. He has put over 1000 factory rounds through it and is comfortable trusting his life on it. I don't blame him. Had I not shortened a 41mag Redhawk it would still be one of my guns as well.

My most recent Taurus is the PT-24/7 in 9mm. I bought it originally for my son as a Christmas present, but he wanted a CZ75BD Compact, so I kept it for myself. My wife has been shooting it and really likes the gun. She has put approximately 800 rounds through it. She had one failure about a week ago, when whe was trying some Wolf 9mm ammo, given to her by a friend. She had shot about 25 rounds when one round failed to go off and the extractor failed to pull it from the chamber. I ended up having to carefully tapping it out using a wood dowel through the bore :what: I threw away the remainder of the ammo and she has had no problems since.

Now my youngest son, 22yo. is shooting his first 1911....a PT-1911. I put 250 rounds through it before giving it to him for Christmas and I have to say this 1911 lover is impressed. I wish my first 1911 had all the bells & whistles this one has, was as accurate and dependable, especially for the price. I dressed his up with a nice pair of Goncalo Alves checkered grips I had in my extra's box. Needless to say he is very proud of his gun. He plans to use it for his CHL qualification next year.

Yes I like Taurus guns. They have served me well and are economical to own.

Eh. Been shootin' for almost 40 years now. Got a 1991-vintage PT-92 AFS-D, a Model 85 stainless bought in '93 and a pre-Pro Millenium PT-145 ... based on these three samples, all guns I'd stake my life, and the life of my loved ones, on, Taurus is good to go. Oh, and with over twenty years active duty military and more'n 14 years in law enforcement occupations, I'm fairly familiar with handguns.

Bought my first one, a 689 revolver in '91 and three other tauri since then. The last one, a Gaucho in .45 colt had to go back for light strikes but was returned quickly and fixed right. I got no complaints at all.

It's been nice to read some positive comments on Taurus. However, I would disagree with Frandy when he says he doesn't love guns. Taurus or otherwise, I love all guns! I mean, if not love, why else would I forego a relationship in order to have more money to blow on guns (among other reasons)?

I only have one (3" judge) but it's sweet. I like Taurus. Mine had trouble chambering certain brands of buckshot but it was the ammo, not the gun. No problems yet out of a couple hundred rounds, and what could be more fun that .410 000 buck out of a 3" revolver? And don't say 12 ga. dang it.
why else would I forego a relationship in order to have more money to blow on guns (among other reasons)?
I've been looking for a way to have more money for ammo.......:(

I really heart my Millenium Pro PT145. after 450rds and re-qualifying with it for my CHL I can honestly say it goes "BANG" everytime I pull the trigger with out failures of any kind.:D

I'm not much of a Taurus fan -- I've bought 2 & both lacked in the quality department. But I don't hate them simply because I do know a few guys that have had great luck w/ the Tauri they've acquired over the years & wouldn't hesitate purchasing another.

I have had a few 92 and target sighted versions thru the years, all where great guns. They even can look good to (if the picture is not a poor one anyway).

Taurus

I like Taurus, I currently have a Taurus Tracker 357 and a Taurus Mil-Pro 40. The Mil-Pro is an awesome pistol, it rivals my XD in terms of accuracy, reliability, and comfort, I think that is saying alot. My tracker 357 has been a great revolver, very accurate, 7 shot cylinder, its a solid revolver. Based on my experience with these two, I'll continue to buy Taurus guns.

However, I have to say that if a Taurus and a comparable Smith were laid out before me and they were the same or comparable price, I would have to choose the Smith.
If that happened I'd have to say that you are either dreaming or about to get screwed over somehow. I agree but that situation has yet to happen to me or anyone i know.

Waste of money.

I have a Taurus 45/410. It shoots 6" low at 50'. Lead bullets will keyhole. Taurus said that it should not do that and to send it back. It was returned with no repair. I wrote them a letter which they never answered. I guess they are good guns if you get a good one but, if you need service, forget it. They also said not to use +P ammo or hand loads. It was a new gun and they would not pay the shipping. ($48.)

Bought a PT1911 last Nov, LOVE that gun, my first 45.
Picked up a 651 in Dec. as my CCW piece, VERY comforting to have around.
Both of these have had THOUSANDS of my reloads thru them in the past few months.
Today I just brought home their baby brother, a 970 Tracker.
I can't wait to take them to the range this Sundays so they all get to play in the ammo.:)

PT 145 Just Croaked

I was putting some lead downrange when my PT145Pro decided that the recoil spring looked better jammed halfway through the front of the slide. It happened @ only 89 total rds. I'm sending it to Taurus tomorrow.

I posted my pride in ownership last week. Now, I'm not so sure. If that had happened in a defense situation, I'd have been out of luck.

With that said, my Smith & Wesson also pooped out with ~150 total rounds through it. S&W repaired it and it now has ~4000 rds through it with few malfunctions.

I hope that the PT145Pro takes the same route. If Taurus fixes this problem and I have no future serious problems, my faith will be renewed.
