Greeting's Folk's-

I'm quite sure we have covered this topic many times over, but I thought
it would be fun to relive everyone's favorite, for whatever reason. Please
limit your selection to only 1 handgun, and give us the reason its special
to you.

I will kick things off here, as I have given great thought to this question
myself. For me, I will go with my all time favorite snub- the 2nd series
(1947-1972) Colt Detective Special. I have three to choose from, but
I will have too take the 1971 factory nickel model; as it remains all
original, and only been test fired a total of six times.

My 1959 6" Royal Blue Colt Python .357 SN#80XX with less than 100 rounds through her... a "safe-Queen" beauty.

:D:D:D

Colt, Series 70, Nickel Plated 1911.
Got it brand new when I was 15. My Dad did the paper work of course, but I bought it with my own money.
Couple others I will never part with, but your first is always special:)

My FA 454. Birthday gift from my wife 4 years ago. Best birthday gift I'll ever get:)

It's not the most valuable in terms of $$$. But it is my most prized.

My most prized handgun is a D-Engraved (full coverage) blue 6" Colt Diamondback 22 that is unfired and unturned. It is not the most valuable, but I like it the best.

I'll be waiting for someone to say, their Glock, because it is the only one they have. :)

Colt Series 70 re-issue, STS, 1911 Gov't Model, .45 ACP.

My Glock 17, because it's the only one I have! :neener:

No, seriously, for what I do with a handgun and what I want, my G-17 really is my most prized pistol. Not as powerful or accurate as my 629, not as much pure fun to shoot as my 22/45, but an all-around good, serviceable handgun. I've competed with this pistol, carried it, had it with me for nights in the woods and it's pulled new-shooter training duty as well. With the exception of a recent frame-rail breakage, it has also been my most trouble-free pistol out-of-the-box. It would be the last one for me to part with.

Once I get the new upgraded frame (danged E-series! :cuss: ) and a set of Trijicons installed, I'll be back in hog heaven. :D

My SS Colt Delta Elite Gold Cup.

It shoots like my dream gun, it's a beautiful piece of work, it's 10mm...

Not my main carry any more but my all around favorite.

I'm stretching the defination of handgun by a bit here, but my most prized is my 308 Striker. It just makes me look good, no matter what else is going on. Just refuses to shoot badly.

Colt Single Action Army, .45 Colt caliber with the 4 3/4" barrel. I don't shoot it very much, but Bob Chow once told me that anyone in to shooting needs at least one real Colt SAA.

Brother Dan, nice twist on an old subject indeed...you made me think about this one :scrutiny: I ended up going w/ my 1969 4" blue Colt Python!
I love that thing! ;)

My Colt Mark IV. It's my baby because I did the custom work on it myself 17 years ago. It has a Centaur Systems Quadracomp barrel with an adjustable slide stop, making it amazingly accurate. Other items include a Wilson trigger and ejector, Pachmayr sight, and custom wood grips with an ivory insert with southwest design. Until my Kimber Ultra CDP, I had never fired a gun that came close to the accuracy of this one. At 25 ft, I could practically one-hole it offhand. Of course back then I was shooting over 500 rounds a week. I think it would still hold up it's end, though, but now it would have to be rested.

S&W 686-1

I have a Smith & Wesson 686 - 1 in .357 w/ a 4 inch barrel w/ full lug. ;) It was one of the first 686's. It was purchased by a LEO as his service revolver, he carried it until the Sherriff's deparment issued him a Beretta 9mm. He gave it to my Dad, once he died(the officer), my Dad gave it to me :D and I gave my Dad a Taruas 5 shot hammerless 38 spl. for his current carry.

Everyone seems to be happy, :) I haven't heard any complaints on the subject.

Out of my pistols my favorite two carries: GLOCK 21 .45 acp & this Swith / Wesson 686 in .357. :)

This was always my #1
6 inch stainless Colt Python.

My father gave it to me for my 18th birthday 25 years ago. It was always special to me, but even more now since he passed away (very suddenly at 63 years old) this past thanksgiving. I know you said to limit at one, but I wanted to post a picture of one of his guns that he left to me. This one is my #1A - hope you don't mind.
S&W model 66-2

Thanks :)

this is a hard one! ill have to say my 4 inch 629 no dash, my wife got it for me for christmas , it just aint for sale, csa

My Kimber Pro CDP with IE. It is the most I've ever spent on a handgun and the one I enjoy to shoot the most. It is also my carry gun.

My Stainless 357 Magnum 6 inch Colt King Cobra...

It's funny because I only purchased it because it was cheap.I am not a revolver fan but the King is my favourite handgun in the collection.

S&W Model 586 (no dash) with 6" barrel. I'm typically not "attached" to guns but this was my first. Bought it new 20 some years ago. I have others worth a lot more monitarily but this is my "Most Prized".

Tuckerdog, I don't know which is more awesome you're FA 454 or you're wife for getting it for you. Nice revolver, the one I'm looking someday to own. I guess right now my fav is my 19-4 Smith. It's handy to carry in the woods and accurate as all get out.

This ugly mk III Hipower. It's now got rubber Uncle Mike's grips. I got tired of looking at it sitting all lonely in the store, so I took it home.
VERY Accurate pistol. Shoot walnut out of tree at 25 yard accurate (I'm in eastern Kentucky, there's a hillside backstop) :uhoh:
I've won bets with this ugly old pistol.

So you just kind of look at it and fondle it a lot?

Most prized? The most expensive thing I own peaks at $400. If I someday use one of my tools to save my life, I think it would at that point become most prized. And when it does, it will have the honorable patina of use. And chances are, it would be a lowly Bulgarian milsurp Makarov (euuuuu).

Until then, every gun I own is a shooter (at least potentially). Everything's a toy, a tool or a spare. I try not to hold a made thing in that high a regard, which borders on idolatry.

A buddy of mine offered me one of his pair of beautiful nickel plated Colt pocket .32s, a century or more old, as payment for something or other. I turned it down, because I didn't want something too nice to use.
