I called up the ATF Distribution Center this afternoon to inquire on when Form 1's were expected to come in off backorder. I had ordered fingerprint cards, certification sheets, form 1's and print copies of the state and federal reg books from ATF, all of which came UPS 3 days later except the Form 1's. I recieved a letter (mailed seperately) informing me that they were backordered and to call the Distribution Center for more information. Not a big deal that they were backordered. I did want to know what the ETA was, because it if it was going to be a while, I would simply use the titleii pdf forms.

on with the story

So, I called up the distribution the distribution center, and the individual who picked up was a black woman (descriptive intent only) who answered the phone very professionally and asked what she could do for me. I informed her about the letter I recieved regarding the Form 1's being backordered, and asked when the Distribution Center expected to get more in. She said she would check, left me hanging for about a minute and rudly informed me that the form is backordered right now. I told her that I was aware that Form 1 was backordered right now, and that I wanted to know when ATF expected to get more in. She informed that ATF would mail me the forms I requested when they got more in. I decided to clarify nad ask "when will that be". She admitted that she didn't know when that would be.

Her around the bush responses and tone (she sounded very annoyed) are probably what upset me the most. I would have been fine with an I don't know response, if I wasn't treated like an idiot first.

Guess who just went to the BOTTOM of the list for thier Form1?

The thing you have to realize about ALL government employees is this. They get paid the same whether they are the best at their job or just adequate.

If they come in early every day and work through lunch, they will get a raise just like the person who comes in just in time and uses all his sick days every year. There is no incentive to better yourself in a government job. Come promotion time, yea, possibly the better employee gets it, unless there are quotas to be met ie: race and sex. The whole system is 180 degrees backwards from private business.

I'm guessing the ATF has the same slogan as H&K: ". . . because you suck and we hate you."

-can't figure out if it was Correia or Coronach who coined that phrase:confused:

You didn't cry after the call did you? :neener:

Get over it, she's a low pay phone jockey-at least she was here in America and not in India. Don't ever expect much from the bottom rung workers. They are at the bottom still for a reason.

LMAO--

No didn't get upset. Wish our tax dollars, which pay her salary bought a little nicer service, but I guess now I'll probably end up printing from the fillable PDF- gotta figure out how to make 2-side copies now.

Let it slide. She's a low level flunky, with what sounds like minimal customer service skills.

Just print your own Form 1's.
You can even get PDF Form 1's form titleII.com (I think it was) where you can type in all your info print and your all most done with that part.
The AFT web site even has all kinds of stuff you can print off for your self.
You can print every thing you need but your finger print cards and pass port photos.

Them horrible government employees...

The whole system is 180 degrees backwards from private business.

Which is why we never see any complaints on here about gun shop employees or WalMart employees, or airline employees.

Thank the gods for private enterprise....

Extremely true.

By the by, how many Government jobs have been outsourced to India or China? :neener:

Sorry, I no longer have the faith or belief in the unfettered forces of the free market I once did. Too many scum CEOs, Presidents, VPs and Board Memebers out walking the streets these days instead of being in a Federal Pen where they belong. :fire:

Too many Business scumbags who don't give two craps about America, Americans, or American jobs. The words Traitors and Treason come to mind. :cuss:

I'm no longer a Conservative, I'm a Lou Dobbs Populist.

At the risk of sounding like an ATF apologist, it could be that the lady had already received a hundred calls that day asking the same question. Yes, she works for us, but if I was called repeatedly by my boss asking the same question over and over, I'd probably get annoyed too. Who here wouldn't? 'Tis only human.

Now where did I put that flame-proof suit... :uhoh:

At least with all of the examples you give, I, as the consumer, am free to walk out the door and spend my money elsewhere.

Man you asked once, she checks and says "backordered".
You ask again, she says "we'll mail it to you when they get in".
You ask again, she says "I don't know when".

Did you really really have to ask so many times. If she knew when she would have told you the first time she went to check.

gotta figure out how to make 2-side copies now.
When you hit the print option, you can set how many copies of which particular page.

1. open your PDF file.

2. Click on the page you want to print.

3. select "print" from File (img. 1)

4. select "current page" on your options. (img. 2)
a thumbnail of the page you want to print will show in the right of the window

5. Select how many copies you want to print.

6. click "OK"

when the pages are done printing, flip the pages over, reinsert them so the blank side will print, repeat 1-2, click on page 2 of your document (img. 3), then repeat 3-4, check the thumbnail. Then 5-6.

p.s. Sorry about the size of the pics, kept them at original size for photo clarity.

Yknow, I expect bad service when I call a government agency. (I worked in an agency as a non-government contractor for years.) Sooo. my expectations are notoriously low at the get go, and I don't get my panties in a bunch when I get the bad service I expect.

That said, over the last several years I have noted a marked improvement in service at places like the Post Office and my local government agencies. Actually called the county on a routine matter, got an answering machine, left a message, and got a returned call within 20 minutes!!!

"If they come in early every day and work through lunch, they will get a raise just like the person who comes in just in time and uses all his sick days every year."

I wish we'd get a raise more often than once or twice a decade. They still do the quarterly reviews (usually) and the once a year performance reviews (always), but they never seem to have any money to fund the pay-for-performance scheme they initiated many years ago.

If I didn't have so much work to do I'd take a vacation. Nuts, I'd take the whole 8 weeks I've saved up. Of course, nobody does any of my work while I'm away.

Good thing I like the work I do.

John

Wouldn't it have been better for that person to actually take the initiative to check on WHEN the forms were expected?? Were I receiving several calls about one form, I think I'd check, just so I could inform folks. It's NOT that difficult to send out an email to the publishers. That's the problem with many companies in today's world, even the .gov, little initiative.

Lighten up, most of the workers at the distribution center ARE FOR REAL mentaly handicapped.

Next why should any of them have to do a complete research for you when they will be in stock.

Next The forms are online! Fill them out and print them like 98% of NFA guys do. Ghesh!

Yes every bit of paper that can be 2 sided has to be.
I find putting 1 sheet of paper in the printer hiting print and catching the page as it comes out and feeding it through again so it prints on the other side does the trick.
All most all the NFA guys oven on the fiveseven forum print their own paper work. They just order the finger print card and go to wall mart for the pass port photos.
I all ways use money orders too. All most like sending cash.
