Did I pay too much? I don't care.

You all know the story. I was walking through the local gun shop paying special attention to the used revolvers. They had a half dozen nice model 10s and a decent blued model 36. Centered in the back of the case atop her own box she sat. A pre-owned/unfired model 36, 3" nickel square butt. Original box, papers, cleaning rod and even the wax wrapper. PERFECT.

I tried to haggle but the truth was I would not walk out of that shop without it. I gave the asking price of $399+tax and don't regret it a bit. I put half down and half next weekend. I have a cell phone pic and if I can figure out how to do it I'll post it soon.

Talk to me.

WONDERFUL! How refreshing!! -- a guy who has figured it out!!!

MOST dealers price things to sell.

If you stumble on something that you have been searching for over the past twenty years ---- just BUY the bloody thing! I did two weeks ago after stumbling over a Model 14.

Congratulations on your purchase!

I knew not to walk out without it. Wouldn't be there next time. The mod 10s were $400, blued 36 was $400. I couldn't believe the one I got was priced the same.

Def4pos8, I found it just north of your location. Vandalia Tactical, east end of the airport.

I think I sent a crude pic from my phone to my email. If/when I get it I'll post it.

As promised. Please forgive the crappy cellphone picture, but you get the idea. You can see the model 10s, along with others under the glass.

Who cares what you paid? For some people, the deal is all that matters. For me, I want what I want, and at times have paid too much for it. So what?

I think you paid a fair price. A FAIR price is all I ask if I'm interested in a firearm. I rarely brag about a great price. Truth is most of the guns I want are in demand; so a fair price is about as good as it gets. Enjoy the revolver.

It'll be shot, but not alot. I'm thinkin try out a few different hollow point loads to see which one shoots best to poa. Then maybe just a cyl or two here or there to rotate ammo.:D This will mostly be for summer/dog walkin/bike ridin carry duty.

Safe queen, never.

It's funny you guys talking about finding the one you've been looking for. That's just the thing, this is what I've been looking for. I really hadn't seen a nickel plated 3" ever but I have been looking for a nice j frame. The final piece in the puzzle was that I had just returned from selling a Bowflex to an old friend. I had money in my pocket and more next week, perfect for a short lay-away.

Heck if something I wanted for a long while was found and available even if some would say overprice who cares?
Its my money and my choice.:D
You did well and will not regret money well spent however the one that gets away always is remembered some times for years.;)
Better to regret the loss of a few bucks (easily replaced) than a prize you have wanted or wish you had spent the extra on later on.
Money talks mine usually hangs around just long enough to say goodbye, its only what can be shown for it once its gone that really counts.
Now if I could only find one of those neat .22LR over 20 gauge Savage 24CS in nickel finish like the one I foolishly sold to a friend when cash was tight years ago, one day I will find her mate and give it a good home.

Thanks for the complements guys, I agree it is a beautiful revolver.

I have no intention of shooting any +p in this one. I will tell you it hasn't been easy finding a good selection of standard pressure hollow point ammo. My plan was to buy several boxes from different manufacturers to determine which one shot to POA. Well so far I haven't had much luck at gun shops. They have FMJ or LRN but not many choices for SD ammo. I plan to order a box of the Buffalo Bore and continue to search for other choices.

That's a beauty! And the price was right too, heck you could probably get $50-75 for the box alone.

I don't worry about overpaying (within reason) for something I want. Its not worth worrying about a few extra bucks if its something I've been looking for. The deals I kick myself about are the ones when I didn't buy.

enthusiasm

pmbiker: Sir; your enthusiasm is enough to make me wont to run out and buy something new:D Looks like years of pleasure to come:)

Guntech - Who cares what you paid? For some people, the deal is all that matters. For me, I want what I want, and at times have paid too much for it. So what?

I'm with Guntech, 5 years from now you'll remember you got a great gun. It's like building a house or a car, budget is a real issue, but I rarely regret spending some extra up front or taking extra time to do it right, the first time. I almost always regret cheaping out and cutting corners to save a few bucks and not having exactly what I want.

Unless I almost steal something when I buy it, I will have buyers remorse or 2nd thoughts to some degree.
If you're happy with it then it was a good deal.
Don't worry about, just enjoy your purchase. You did good.
