Just as the question asks. I have often wondered how many here would go places that do not allow concealed carry. Do you go nowhere your gun can't go? Do you only go places you really have to without a gun? Do you not mind going without a gun at all?

I'm a college student. I go to non-gun places quite a bit, and I abide by their rules (really just abide by the law. I ignore the fake no-gun signs, abide by legal ones). I much prefer going around with a gun. To be honest, the whole 'lockdown' policy bothers me more than being without a gun. As it is, policy seems to leave you defenseless and trapped at the same time.

Jef, I do not recommend this, but I've carried in post offices, schools, court houses, football games, federal buildings and even on a military base.

I was wrong for doing it and I have changed that behavior. But it's hard. I do NOT like going about unarmed. I disagree with the prohibition against carrying those places, but even if it's an unjust law, I must abide by it. I hate it.

I prefer not to but I still go to bars periodically or if I intend to have a drink or two at a restaurant, I won't carry. Other than that, I try to avoid places that force me to be disarmed.

Given the option, No!

If a business firm "posts" their property, even if I am not carrying at the time (as in on the way to the courthouse or the post office), I will not go there. I will, however, send them a polite note telling them that I try to avoid places that encourage criminal activity. I often enclose something printed to support my stance.

If they don't want me to have the means to resist criminal attack, I figure they don't want my money.

Oh, I'm not thinking about being illegal at all.

I just have a friend that thinks I'm stupid for going to a country where I can't take my gun for a semester, and thinking about it, it made me realize how much I'd miss if I only went places I was allowed to carry. I'm just curious how others view the security of being armed v. doing things where guns aren't allowed.

Unless I have to go where carry isn't allowed, courts, etc, I don't go.
I won't do business at a store, mall, etc, if they don't allow concealed carry.

But there's only one place, mall, that I know that's posted, so I never go there.

I'll carry a gun everywhere unless its completely out of the question.
Examples such as metal detectors at Airports,Courtrooms and State Capitol's.
Everywhere else, concealed means concealed and I carry. That includes schools, bars and sporting events.
The old tired cliche"better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6" is constantly in my vision.
No compromise is my reason for being.

I will carry wherever legally possible. If it is expressly forbidden (such as federal buildings, schools) I do not go there. We recently stopped getting mail at the Post Office, one less place I have to take off my gun.:) I used to carry as much as possible, now I carry 100% of the time. If I am forced to go somewhere I can't carry, then fine I do not carry, but if it is my choice I do not go. This includes bars. In Texas we have the 51% plus alcohol consumed on premises law. I now go to bars pretty much never. I live in a very gun friendly area :D and I can't think of one place with a 30.06 sign. If I see one, they get no business and I spread the word.

I carry everywhere that it's not specifically off limits to me. Areas like that are fewer because I am an LEO, but they do exist. I can carry in state, county and city buildings, but not in federal buildings or airports. I don't go to bars unless I have a reason to while on duty. Don't carry any weapons at all in the jail. Otherwise, I'm armed.

When I married my wife and decided to take my offtime in Canada on a temporary basis it pretty much sucked that I knew I wouldn't be taking any guns with me. But it's a choice I've made and live with until the day she moves down to the States.

As a CCW holder in Oklahoma I've always obeyed the law as it pertains to those places the state law prohibited me from carrying into. Places with "no guns allowed" signs I simply didn't do business with which only prevents them from making a sale.

I live not too awful far from Canada. I go up there regularly for the skiing and also drive up a couple times a year to see the Red Wings smack the Canucks around around. I just have to suck it up and hope for the best.

Don't go to bars anymore, and there's really no other place I'd be goin' where I can't carry.

I don't have much choice for the time being, My home state is "may issue", but effectively doesn't issue for personal safety, only to protect your boss, or his money, and then the permit is very restrictive. I spend most of my time and money in PA, where a non-res FL permit allows you to legally carry, and most "no guns" signs mean nothing more than expulsion, or a trespassing charge if you refuse. Hopefully in a couple months I can afford to escape to PA, and carry almost everywhere. Being one of those "law abiding" gun owners, I don't carry where not legal, but spend as little time there as I can.

I won't go anywhere its illegal, but I don't give a hoot about some business owner's policies (except that I don't like supporting bigots so I won't do business where the signs are posted).

Thankfully, Colorado law backs me up.

I work in a high school as a music teacher, so I obviously don't carry there. As far as other places, I don't drink alcohol, so I never go to bars. I don't really go to the others places like hospitals or .gov buildings that much. I also don't bring my weapon inside my ARNG armory. I feel pretty safe there without it though :) As far as other states and the like, I passed on a trip to Chicago with friends mostly because I couldn't bring my CCW. I don't care to spend my consumer $$ in a city that doesn't respect me. I have gone to Canada a few times, and it's highly illegal to bring a weapon across the border, so I don't of course. My multitool and a Surefire E2d is about all I have with me in Canada.

I don't carry when I'm on the throne. You see I dropped it once...
