My wife go's to work about 4 blocks away at 3:30am. Today she said she left the house and a car was driving down our street really slow. Then she walked down the road and they turned around and drove by her really slow. Then they stopped at a stop sign until she passed. Then they kept driving past her and stopping watching her walk past. All the way to her work.
Then they sat outside her work and watched her, then would leave if she went to the front door and looked at them. Then they'd come back a few minutes later.
Anyone know of an affordable tazer I can get for her? Or anyone have one they don't sue anymore, that they'd like to donate or sell for cheep?
I can't be up to walk her to work that early. She needs something. All she has in a little bottle of mace, and that ain't gonna work.
Let me know.

Basic Tasers can be had for about $300

Nightwing-you could get her a good revolver for that kind of money. I have read some of your other threads, so I have at least some idea of where you wife stands on guns. Any chance that this incident has changed her views at all? I know that I feel a lot more protected with a .38, .357, .45 or whatever I'm carrying at the moment than I would with a taser. I mean, to me tasers are like knives. They have no place in a gun fight. Fortunately nothing physical came out of this encounter. Maybe they had a gun, maybe not. What about next time?

I agree with Oakville Shooter. Even if you got one of the Tasers that uses wires they aren't really all that accurate and the chances of missing are pretty high. Also you have to consider that she might be encountering multiple perps in which case Tasers or knives are not the idea weapon IMO.

Unless it shoots out leads into the person, don't bother with them they are worthless and even if it does shoot out leads what if there is more than one person.

I would suggest getting a CCW, you can get a handgun for the same price as a good tazer and it is much cheaper to practice and buy new ammo for.

I've been hit by stun guns voluntarily and I'll say this, they sound scary and look scary but you'd be better off with almost anything else even fists than a stun gun.

I burnt two side by side holes into my arm and my stomach trying out stun guns. I have scars from it, but know that they are totally worthless as a form of defense.

Here is another, less expensive choice.....................

I agree ... buy a Guardian Angel for now and then get her into a CHL class and get her a permit to carry.

Hell, a KelTec P3AT would be more effective than a Taser.

IIRC you're here in Colorado aren't you Nighwing?

I would seriously look into her getting a different job or at least different hours.

I agree with this one. Tazers are no magic weapons, and neither are handguns. It seems to me that there are two reasonable choices:

  1. You arrange your schedule so that you can walk with her. Every marriage is different, and I am not jugding yours, but there is now way in hell I would let my wife walk 4 blocks at 3:00 AM by herself in any city in the US!
  2. She changes her hours/her job, or stops working. Is the money she makes more imporant to you than her life?

I know from other posts that you really want her to get a CCW, and she doesn't want to.

I wouldn't personally be much happier with her with a handgun making that walk at 3:00 AM than without. A CCW is not a magic weapon. It increases your odds, but it's magic. A single woman making that walk at that time of day, even with a handgun, sounds extremely dangerous.

I think you need to value her safety more than her income, and have her not make that journey, even if she can't find another job.

In case you guys missed the previous locked threads: his wife is a raving illogical and irrational anti. I doubt she believes in self defense, though this latest incident may have shaken her grip on irrationality.

Ah ... well there you go. This is another case of trying to solve a software problem with hardware.

Nightwing-Just curious, does she want a taser, or do you want to get her a taser. IMO, if she is asking for some kind of protection, then maybe she is starting to come around. If the taser is your idea, is she willing to carry/use it, or would it fall into her "no need for..." category, the same as handguns?

Tazers are no magic weapons, and neither are handguns.

True, but I still think a handgun is a much better option than a taser, provided that she is physically AND mentally prepared to use it.

Personally

I think I would get up and drive her to work for a while. Either that or follow her on foot to see if it happens again. If you do that, be prepared to deal with whatever you may encounter. I am not advocating violence by any means. Keep your cell phone handy and call 911 at the first sign of trouble. You might want to tell the police about what has already happened, they probably won't do anything but, at least they will have it on record if anything should happen. Remind her that neither you nor the police can be there to protect her constantly, that is her look out.

Kimbers are a OK device...here is a review.

Kimber lifeact (aka "Jet Protector", "Dogshock" and "Guardian angel")

5X7 INCH HEAD

10 feet from target...both rounds fired fast from a pocket draw, as if I really had to use it.

Device makes no noise but a very quiet sping noise.

Inside the device.

Deeper inside the device.

From L to R

Tube for OC capsule and piston

rws blank cartridge and chamber

trigger and fireing pin assy & clip.

Device works very well as far as function.

Device is designed & made very well

Aims semi-good and it really spits the OC out well.

Interesting device ... IMO, as it uses a "captive piston concept".Same general design as the russian cyanide gas guns and others like AAI QSPR tunnel rat rounds,Russian PSS pistol,etc....

OC blend is HOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got a bit in the eyes as always seems to happen when playing with OC items.

IMO..A fair device for use on dogs that chase me on my bike.:D

As far as use on humans well it is still OC and it does have to be aimed ....so IMO Not a real good choice for use on people.

Also,I thought it could maybe be mistaken for a type of firearm and get ya shot.

As far as a great gadget for a collection :thumbup:

She should have first reached for the cellphone. She should have called you or 911.

Is your wife really carrying mace or is it some form of pepperspray?

This part kind of made my brain perk a bit ????? Just Sounds a bit odd to me..but heck I am paranoid.:what:

Hey anyone with a early c-3 corvette that they want to sell to my wife for cheap or better yet donate Please let me know, she wants mine.:D

:eek:OH NO BUSTED AGAIN ! :banghead:

I coated it to protect it..thats all I did it for I SWEAR !:D

A quick solvent bath and coating is gone....

I love it...EXCELLENT CNC WORK !

OP: if you're wife is unwilling to adapt to a dangerous situation, you should get her out of the situation.

You have a C3, Al?

Me too, I love it! :D

I agree that a cell phone is a pretty good first line of defense, then OC then a firearm. I don't want to sound like a jerk, but if the reports of her being anti are true, at some point she is going to have to reconcile hurting people and protecting herself.

Al, it made me laugh that you got scolded! At least it wasn't pink...:neener:
