This is a thread for aesthetically inclined. What kind of engraving/plating/refinishing/grips have you done to make any firearms unique to you and your own style?

I realize plenty of people will jump in and scream "My gun is bone stock and shoots just as good." or "I have shot 300,000 rounds through my gun, I am better than you." Well this thread simply isn't for you.

Personally, all of my guns are bone stock.

Show me some gun art please!

Haven't done it yet, but I plan on customzing my Uberti 1866 Golden boy in some way, and get matching custom grips for twin Ruger Vaqueros.

Here is my S&W 627 with Nill grips and laser engraving. Does that qualify as unique?

I haven't done much. All I did was swap out the grip panels for for something that's better looking. Now it's obvious that this is a personal weapon, not merely some tool that is identical to thousands of others out there.

To me, personalizing a gun in a really artsy way is like inlaying gold into a hammer. I still appreciate the gun art out there, but aside from practical customizing (better grips, accessories, etc.) I don't know what I would do to make a gun "uniquely mine." keep the pics coming, though!

These, all of them, I love Single Action Model P's. I have many others and will take pics later.

Guess this one is uniquely personal, autographed by the "hand of Moses".....didn't intend on having him put my name on it too, that's just the way it worked out.

You won't find to many Desert Eagles that have a checkered front strap and trigger guard. Added underlug on 14" barrel is for sling or bipod.

I customized a stock RIA GI 1911 and ended up with this; the finish is black Duracoat. I cut and fitted the beavertail, and replaced the sights with MGW sights from Brownells. The fire control parts are Wilson's; the safeties are Mcormick. sorry about the lighting, I should take more pics. Anyone have any tips on gun photography?

My Mark IV pin gun was done by me about 20 years ago; I'm sure you can recognize most of the add-on features, but being a Native American, I added the grips with the ivory insert in southwest design to make it uniquely mine. It is the most accurate weapon in my collection.

And on my Delta Elite, I wanted no add-ons to detract from what I considered a near perfect piece from the factory. Except for the ivory-polymer grips which made it perfect.;)

Not a great picture, but here's my S&W 625 with some PC grips and a Millet red dot on a weigland mount. It's my range gun and pistol I use when I'm feeling like pumping up the ego. This thing is horridly accurate and has a single-action pull that's to die for.

I guess you could also say my Saiga too. Built it into what it is right now, plus the POSP scope.

I think I'm forgetting one...Oh yeah! My Remington 1740. It's got a touch of class all its own.

Took a Springfield GI and had it polished to a mirror finish after I took a file to some of the sharper edges
Reblued it, added "retro" style sights (King Hardballer front with a 14k Gold bead insert and a Yo Bo in back) and then added a set of Esmerelda Cocobolos slims grips
It usually starts up conversations at the range ;)

All of these are beautiful! Keep them flowing. Man that Desert Eagle is really something else. If you had the barrel nickel/chrome/np3ed, that thing would would be able to kill small animals with the reflection of the sun alone.

Wow, some beautiful work in this thread. Love the 1911 JayDee, and DeerHunter, you have finally 100%, no-argument-allowed solved the debate of "what gun for Zombie Apocalypse?"

No pics, but two of my handguns have my initials engraved on one, my complete name on the other.

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

I end up personalizing most my guns. My reasoning is I don't intend to EVER sell them so I do what I please. I have a real talent for taking a modest gun and making it stupid expensive.

I don’t have too many customized handguns. I generally prefer to leave them as they came from the factory. But I do have a couple that I have personalized.

Posted before, a 2” M10-5 that was engraved and fitted with polished stags. Second photo shows the gun in the El Paso Saddlery rig I had made for it.

In the early 1970s I installed ivory stocks and a S&W sight on this Series ’70 Government Model.

A couple years ago I built this 1911 using a Charles Daly lower and a Colt .22 Conversion Unit upper. Shoots great. In the photo you can see that I had the stocks scrimshawed with a personal emblem and a small diamond was set into the right stock panel.

I am far more likely to customize a rifle than a handgun. I have built numerous Mausers over the years. This one is based on a BRNO commercial action and features dual set triggers, a Douglas ’06 barrel, a Redfield receiver sight and a classic European stock in fancy English walnut.

You wouldn’t think of the Remington Model 581 .22 rifle as a basis for an elaborate custom rifle, but this one has received the full treatment. Barrel was cut from 24” to 20” and the fore-end shortened as well. Lead weights fill holes under the barrel to give it the same balance as with the original barrel. Action and barrel were glas-bedded and an additional action screw was installed as the 581 only comes with one. This required drilling and tapping an extra hole in the underside of the action. Bolt bearing surfaces were lapped and the trigger lightened.
