Help Identify Old Ruger

Trying to find out what kind or ruger pistol my grandfather has it is an old ruger autoloader. the grips or wood that are molded where your thumb would go when your holding it, and the ruger emblem is silver. i googled it but can't find it in the pics. I am also woundering its value it is in good shape. If anone has any pics of what they think it is I could tell you if its the same one. any help appreciated
 
Do you mean like a MK I or MK II 22 auto? Like this?

If it's a truly OLD Ruger autopistol then it necessarily HAS to be a .22, either a MK I or Mk II.

Ruger didn't make autopistols in any other caliber until 1985, and they didn't actually hit the market until 1987.
 
Those grips sound like aftermarket with a thumbrest, not an uncommon change with a pistol used for target shooting. To the best of my knowledge the bird logo is not silver, but either black or red depending on its age.
 
Yes it's an .22 Im thinking its a MK 1 do to the age my guess is that its some kind of special target pistol but I don't know.

Slademark yes the grips are like that exept theres no checkering and has the ruger emblem in silver the gun is not even close though, it has the thin barrel, and it is dark blue not silver.
 
Then almost certainly a MK I auto pistol with aftermarket grips. That might also explain the silver logo, which is not a Ruger Factory emblem. How long is the barrel? Can you post a pic?
 
If you go to the Ruger web site, they have a section where you can look up the serial number. Sounds like you have one with the 6 7/8" bbl. It would have been made sometime prior to 12/81. If you take the grips off you should see "A 100" stamped on the frame.

Does it look like the attachment?

I did notice one thing your ruger emblem has black in it this one has only silver but int has a little black left in one wing so I think thats just do to wear over time.

I would look at the grips but I'm not over at his house anymore so i can't but If it like the one it the pic it shoul have taht stamped on it.

Do you know the value of that gun In the pic.

And maybe when it was made

For value, check out the various auction sites (GB, AA, GA, etc.) Condition is everything. Having the original box and paperwork (manual, waranty card, etc.) and any accessories (extra magazines, grips, muzzle break, etc.) also add value. An extremely broad range would be 100-400.
 
Yeah

Yeah, they seem to be <$200 on gunbroker. That is a rather decent gun for the money!

I can't think of a modern autoloader 22lr pistol that even comes close for that much.
