Howdy,

I just bought a XD45 and I don't think I'm going to be satisfied with the factory holster.

I'm in the process of getting to know the pistol and am considering it for my carry gun.

My current carry piece is a 1911 in a Galco IWB. I've got a couple of Glocks in the safe that I can actually shoot a bit better than the 1911. But not enough better to make up for the difference in comfortable carry. The Glocks were relegated to the safe because I couldn't find a holster that allowed-for me-comfortable carry.

So-from the people who are carrying them-what recommendations do you have for concealed carry holsters for the Springfield XD45?

Thanks.

The factory holster is slightly better than stringing a piece of rope through the trigger guard and tying the other end to your belt.
I find the CTAC from Comp Tac pretty comfortable for both the XD and Glocks. I haven't tried the "big boys" like Milt Sparks though so I can't say if it's going to be better than a good leather IWB holster.

I have an XD45 Service and have found two holsters for it. First, the aforementioned CTAC has turned out to be quite good and I recommend it highly. Second, is a FIST #43 which can be worn either IWB or OWB equally well XDFIST43.gif

I have been very happy with my Kramer Horsehide Belt Scabbard but It does require a jacket. I don't have a IWB for the XD but the one I use on my M&P 40 works well.

I carry my xd45 in a don hume IWB clip holster. I've had no troubles with it. However, I will say that I don't like carrying like this with my xd as much as with my significantly less ponderous Kahr CW9. I'm thinking about looking for an OWB holster to carry the XD this winter... It's not uncomfortable IWB, but I think OWB might be a little MORE comfortable...

I use a Comptac MTAC IWB for my XD9. Hard to keep from printing. I recently bought a PM9 so I dont carry the XD IWB anymore.
I do love the Comptac Paddle holster for the XD though, keeps the gun tight and close to my side, unlike the XD gear holster that came with the gun.

Comptac is a great company to deal with, keep up to date on your order status, and they usually ship within 1-2 weeks.

Hard to keep from printing.

The vast majority of people are not observant enough to notice. If open carry is legal in your state, do so in a department store. Go with a friend who can hang back to watch you and the reactions of others to you. Discuss how many people never notice your pistol. From experience, I'm willing to bet it's a large majority of the folks you come into contact with.

Unless there's some provision in your state's code that makes printing a chargeable offense, I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about it.

Well since I haven’t gotten laughed off the board (yet) for admitting I actually own a couple of Sigmas, I’ll give this a try? www.bagmaster.com

Yeah, they’re inexpensive (not cheap), but they’re easy on your weapon and I tend to shy away from leather (I think every holster I own is ballistic nylon) since I perspire a lot. Cleaning body salt off a leather holster can become a PITA.

XD45 Compact in a CompTac MTAC. Get an extra shell to fit any other pistols you tend to carry CCW.

I'm casting my vote for the Crossbreed Supertuck as well. I have one that I carry either my XD45 or XD9SC in, and it works great. For OWB, I use a Don Hume Open Top.

Blackhawk serpa for all our xd's.Comfortable, very user friendly and affordable. Not to mention you can get them with interchangeable paddle or belt mounts.

Plastic gun = plastic holster

Go with blade tech, their holsters are FAR superior to any other kydex holster manufacturer that I've tried, and I've had quite a few brands. Only the Blade-Tech holsters "snap" into place and hold the gun by more than friction.

I have a Blade-Tech IWB for almost every pistol that I own.

Clipdraw for XD45 acp

I went through several holsters (for conceal carry) and what I now like best is just using a "clipdraw". You can find them at the springfieldxdstore.com.

Any other 'traditional' holster I've used (including Desantis and not just cheap-o holsters) just haven't been 'right' for me.

What I like about the clipdraw is (1) the gun is easier to conceal since there's less bulk (2) you can front or back carry (3) it's very easy to put on and take off (if you prefer to take it out as you get in your car and vice versa) and (4) it's a quicker draw for me.

Downsides may be that the trigger is not covered (I don't see this as a huge issue with the XD because if it's safety mechanisms), and in the summer the gun is against your body.
