I have a thing for police trade ins.

I would like to see some retired police guns and know a little history on them. Where were they used, when did they serve, etc.

I have a large number of former police guns. I can post a couple.

Utah Highway Patrol (factory inscribed).

1962 Pistolet Makarova PM with East German Volkspolitzi markings. These were issued to the "civilian" police force.

G23 trade in. No department markings. I replaced the barrel with a threaded barrel for suppressor demonstrations.

I have a San Diego Sheriff's Department S&W M-66. Certainly well-used, but very nice and original, and a great shooter. I will try to post a pic tomorrow...

This was my father-in-laws duty gun when he was a Philadelphia police officer (the gun is not marked). It's a Colt Official Police with a 5" barrel. It was made in 1949 or 1950.

My FIL gave it to me for christmas a few years back because he knew that I was into guns and I'd take good care of it. I was thinking of having it restored, but I decided to keep it the way it is. I love the "character" that it has. The right grip is worn smooth because he had a habbit of leaning his hand on it.

My FIL said that he only had to shoot it once at a suspect. The suspect was fleeing from him and my FIL shot at him while he was climbing over a railraod car  . He missed!

He couldn't remember how long ago it was. I guess times have changed!

Winnipeg Police Department surplus. S&W Model 12 Airweight.

I added the Tyler T Grip adaptor.

Pic's Comming

I have several PD guns...I will post pics once I get a chance to take some.

1st - My S&W 6906 which I carried on duty as a Police Officer in West York.

2nd - Beretta 96G from the PSP - Marked with trooper patch laser engraved on the frame.

3rd - Beretta 96G from the PSP - Same as above but is done in NP3 (gives it a stainless look)

4th - Beretta 8045F W/LAPD barrel - Originally bought and issued to LAPD detective. LAPD required a service weapon to have a 4" barrel and Beretta complied by producing some.

Here is a retired Sig 228. I didn't carry it long, opting for the Glock 22 instead. Nowhere near the character of some of these guns, but I like it. Freakshow, what are you shooting through that suppressed G23 and how well does it cycle. I am interested in acquiring a suppressor in the future and that setup looks nifty.

Evansville, Indiana Smith and Wesson 686

Still new in the box from 1983. Paid way too much for it, but I work for this Dept. and figured I would never find another one like this.

I bought an S&W M58 that had been a San Antonio PD-issued duty sixgun, and carried it myself as a duty sixgun for several years in the 1980's. Sorry, I have no way of translating my mobile phone camera pics to something I can post on this forum; they have too many KB, whatever those are.

Certainly there are some more PD guns tucked away in the vaults. Dust em off and post some pics.

Here's my ex-NYPD Model 10-6. The serial number dates it to 1971. I figure this weapon saw action from 1971 to 1991, a pretty rough time to be a cop in New York. Judging by the look of it this gun and its previous owner saw no shortage of action.
