I just recieved my concealed carry permit today:). I am only saddened by the fact that the court took it's time. The county I live in is famous for it. I submitted my permit on the 28th of July, backround was complete on 15 Aug, signed by judge 29 Aug, and it wasn't mailed till yesterday:banghead:. But better late than never.

Congrats! You have been saddened by the court taking it's time but that is in the past.

I got mine in the middle of July so I haven't been carrying that long either...

Huh. I got my Concealed Firearm Permit yesterday. I submitted my papers on July 22nd, however, 50 days is actually pretty fast for the Utah BCI. Congrats to you.

Congrats, I just got mine the other day as well. Now all I'm waiting on is a holster (crossbreed)...which I've yet to order..waiting on finances. Shouldn't be too long now.

What country do you live in?

Congrats to you all! When I received my NYS permit back when I turned 21, it took 9 months! That was standard for the region I lived in.

When I received my Texas CHL, it was appx. 45 days. Now, some are averaging 60 to 100+ days I hear.

At any rate, you're good to go! Be safe as always!

Congratulations. Your life will soon change. For the better. :D

Took one week to get mine. I picked up my license and my carry piece in the same trip to town.

Congrats!

My permit took almost exactly a month from the day i dropped off all the paperwork at the police dept to the day i got my temp state permit. (drove to the state DPS and got the permanent permit that same day)

Congrats!

Mine only took 6 months. Every time went to get my ccw the person who issued them was "on lunch" or "on vacation" or "out of the office" this went on for a 2 months.

Out-of-state application thru Utah, submitted in March, got it in September. And they didn't even DO the background check. Seems all the out-of-state applications had piled up, and they just kinda flushed them all through very quickly, with a promise to do the backgrounds later.

But yeah, the fact that we even have to GET a permit is just plain wrong. :cuss:

papajohn, that letter that comes with your permit is boilerplate. The fingerprint checks through AFIS don't come in until after the statutory period that Utah BCI has to issue the permit. So when you get your permit, it is on contingency. They may have to revoke it right quick if the FBI comes in with bad results. I think they're banking on the fact that bad guys don't apply for permits.

In Ventura County, CA, it takes 1-2 years to get your permit. They grant a lot of them, relatively, considering its a larger-ish city in Southern California. It's just that the Sheriffs Department sits on the paperwork on purpose.

Wow, it's amazing the difference in time from place to place. Mine took 63 days from the day I mailed it off. Just got it last Friday.
